Except he makes 8 times more.

What would be the Red Sox motivation for eating all but the pro-rated minimum left on Lowell's deal and getting nothing at all in return? The fact that they were on the verge of getting Max Ramirez for Lowell and eating 3/4 of his deal says they should probably hold out for a decent young player.

At this point, if they could get another team to pick up a million or two of his salary, that would free up a roster spot for them, and they could certainly use that in their beaten up OF.

Decent young players are no longer an option. The Red Sox motivation would be to clear up a bench spot, remove an unhappy player, etc. No one is taking on any part of that contract right now.

If the Sox make a deal, expect something like Jhonny Nunez for Lowell with the Red Sox eating everything but the prorated minimum. And right now that would be a good deal for the Red Sox.

How valuable is Nunez? I would probably do this.

Anyone hear what Boers said about Lowell? Basically said there's no doubt in the industry he used performance enhancers.

I don't really put a lot into anything Boers or Berstein says. First of all, neither one of them (especially Bernstein) are ever wrong about anything. If you say they're wrong, you'll get ridiculed before they hang up on you. Then Terry Boers admits that a lot of times he doesn't even watch the games. Both of them are idiots.

BUT they are very entertaining. They remind me of Beavis and Butthead... two asshats that are there just to make me laugh.

They also have the best sources in Chicago

Man, i'm waiting for the first couple of hit pieces on Teahen to come out. If he doesn't turn it around quick, we're going to hear about how Ozzie thinks his attitude doesn't fit in with the makeup of the clubhouse, and he's going to get, "Swishered" out of here. I don't think the book is closed on Mark Teahen. He looked like he was turning a corner before he went down with his injury. I know his defense was terrible, but he's still a good guy, works some of the best at-bats out of anyone on the team, and is still a hell of a lot better then Chris Getz and Josh Fields.

I greatly enjoy him as a person, but man his defense is killing me when Morel is apparently studly on defense.

Their show is the only sports talk show I will listen to, that said, they throw out a lot of crap without anything to back it up. Bernstein is especially guilty of it.

Just got promoted to AAA, BTW.

Not to mention he only went back there to be a starter/stretch out his arm. He had nothing to prove in AA from last season. In fact.. I think the sox should put him back to a relief pitcher.

I've only flat out heard them say that a player was only good cause of the juice twice now..Lowell and Carlos Pena. BTW, I heard that their source for White Sox related stuff in the past has been Rick Hahn or a family member of his.

I'm not trying to forgive him for being awful on D, but I keep coming back to this...he's been much, much, much worse on D than he's been his last stints at 3b. He's been worse there than he was as a rookie, and he's been approaching average over the last few years. Until this year.

Carlos Pena? Seriously? That makes very little sense to me.

Hawk's stories about Carlos Pena are hilarious. How when he'd watch him take BP back in his Detroit days the ball just didn't jump off his bat at all and it's the main reason he couldn't stick in the majors, so he disappears for a while, bouncing around the league and minors and resurrects his career in Tampa with new found life in his bat, now the ball explodes off the bat. He basically described your typical roider probably without even knowing it.

It may be a way to dump Linebrink. It's the only way this could make sense.

Linebrink is actually worse because we still have to pay him next year and he has a full NTC. When it comes to bad deals with 1+ year remaining though, most of them are much more expensive than Linebrink and are even worse, like Oliver Perez and Carlos Silva (despite his start this year, which is bound to end in flames).
