Dick Allen
Kevin Appier just got released by the Angels. He's been pretty bad this year, but maybe a change of scenery?......
Capn12
Not a bad thought...but he'd have to clear waivers for us to bite, I'm sure...he makes s***loads of money to be average.

His ERA is almost 6. That's hardly average. Oh, and he's GUARANTEED to make $12.5M in 2004, whether he's pitching in the majors or not. Looks like the Angels is going to be saddled with that burden. NO WAY IN HELL do I want him wearing a Sox uniform.
Jim Fainter
That is one more testamonial to brilliant GM's. Giving Appier a guaranteed $12 MM in 2004 at his age??? That is insane. It is total incompetence. There are stories like this all over baseball. General Managers must take stupid pills. How can an agent even ask for that with a straight face, and then some unnamed GM says, "Okay, it's not my money. Do you want more?" The Appier story does not top the Denny Neagle or Mike Hampton sagas, but it's pretty close.
Loaiza21
Doesn't Anaheim pay his contract and we just sign him to a new deal?
Chisoxfn
Ya they pay his contract if he clears waivers. Sox just pay the league min or something like that.
Loaiza21
Ya they pay his contract if he clears waivers. Sox just pay the league min or something like that. Then they should go for it. Cooper is a magic maker.
Chisoxfn
I am not a big Appier fan. This kind of would be like the Ken Hill move the Sox made a few years back. I think Appier is out of gas, but I wouldn't whine over the signing.

Chisoxfn
As long as Dan Wright is never in a White Sox uniform again this season. Trust me, Appier is far worse then Wright. Appier has horrible control and no stuff.
cwsox
As long as Dan Wright is never in a White Sox uniform again this season. Danny won 14 for us last year - I prefer him to a lot of others
JoshPR
Ya they pay his contract if he clears waivers. Sox just pay the league min or something like that. If the Sox Pickhim Up they pay him 500,000 that's all. Anaheim Pays the rest
dasox24
I would much rather have Wright than Appier. In fact, from what Jason has said about him, and from looking at his stats, I have been convinced that he would hurt the rotation more than help it. greg775
I'd rather take Appier than make another trade. p.s. As long as we don't pitch Koch and the whiner White in meaningful situations, our staff is awesome, right??
YASNY
I think we'll be just fine with Danny Wright as our 5th starter the rest of the way.
