whitesoxfan101
Most anti-climatic Cubs/Sox game I've ever been to. Probably a third of the crowd was in Hawks gear and coming back from the parade (like I was, for instance) which is the real reason they started it late (there was no rain, sign of rain, or threat of rain in the area all day that I could see, and I was in the city and outside all day.) There were more "let's go Hawks" chants than let's go Sox and Cubs chants combined. Good to see a win over the Cubs in person at that hole though, even though it doesn't really mean anything. I've said it before and I'll say it again; I hate weekday afternoon games.
hogan873
I've had plenty to drink this evening after not having drop one all week, so please excuse my enthusiasm. I love AJ and Konerko. Can we re-sign them? That being slurred, what a great performance by Peavy, AJ, Rios, and Konerko. Three game winning streak. Lots of runs. Solid pitching. I love the Sox today. I'm going to go have another beer. I'll read this post tomorrow and be embarrassed, but until then...

hogan873
I can't give up on my Sox! Sweep the Shlubs and make a run! Let's go!
zygoat
I was at the game today and Rios smack was the farthest ball I've seen hit in Wrigley in a long time. He clobbered that thing. It good to see us put up some runs. Lets go Sox.
Milkman delivers
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) I actually get worried when we win now. I'm afraid that we're really going to make moves in an effort to make up the deficit. I like that kind of commitment to winning, but I think that hurts us in the long run. I'm always happy to beat the Cubs, but this series is coming at exactly the wrong time. We can't let ourselves be fooled into thinking we have a chance because we're beating up on the Cubs, and then end up keeping AJ.

He'll accept a f***ing deal if it means going to a contender. We're not going to get s*** for him either way. Nobody's going to give much for a guy his age who can't throw. Might as well keep him and go for the best deal when teams want to make a splash shortly after the all star break.
shipps
I didnt care that the Sox beat the Cubs, I was just happy we didnt lose to the Cubs. If that makes any sense.

Dealing for AJ Pierzysnki in July isn't a bigger splash than dealing for AJ Pierzynski in June

You potentially get more in a trade the sooner you finish the deal, because the other team gets the player longer.
greg775
Well then I'd think he's off to Texas in a day.

Really, the problem remains the Rangers being in bankruptcy. The rest of the owners are paying for that team right now, and they don't want to pay for them to get better, and the Rangers aren't likely to give up the kind of players we'd want for us to pay AJ's salary. If someone else is picking up his contract, it's the difference between them paying about $4 million and about $2 million.
