South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) If this was AJP's last game, I want to say that his pitch calling this series was absolutely phenomenal. He did a pretty good job throwing out runners as well.
southsideirish71
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) If this was AJP's last game, I want to say that his pitch calling this series was absolutely phenomenal. They are not trading him. Kenny is pretty easily fooled into thinking that any teams is a winner just lurking to break out. A nice little run against bad NL teams might get some prospects shipped off for our run that will never appear.
Harry Chappas
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) Lillibridge wasn't a very fundamentally good hitter when we saw him last year either. Before the balk the situation called for a bunt. Ramirez can not bunt, Lillibridge can.
IamtheHBOMB
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:40 PM) It was 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Alexei K'd then Rios was IBB'd . Konerko had based loaded 1 out . Excuse me, you were right. Regardless, they are f***ing horrific with runners in scoring position.

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) Minus the first pitch fastball to Tracy after Soriano's double. He was throwing 1st pitch fastballs a lot. The difference was he got that one up a little bit. Can't expect perfection from either Gavin or AJ . Some times you just get outguessed. It's not rocket science.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) Before the balk the situation called for a bunt. Ramirez can not bunt, Lillibridge can. Alexei had 6 sacrifice bunts last year and has 11 in his career. (I have no idea how many attempts).

That would make absolutely no sense. If they want him back they'll re-sign him for significantly less than he's making now as opposed to giving him $7m+ for 1 year in arbitration. kitekrazy
I thought it was a perfect display of a city with two of the worst hitting teams in baseball. The Sox won 4 in a row. Mark it on your calendar. Who knows the next time we see that. While this next series should be easy, that's when the Sox lay down.

Why not, he does not make that much. If he accepts, ink a two year deal. If he declines take the draft picks, put the ball in his court for PR sake. Flowers is not pushing anyone at this point. mcgrad70
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) I thought it was a perfect display of a city with two of the worst hitting teams in baseball. The Sox won 4 in a row. Mark it on your calendar. Who knows the next time we see that. While this next series should be easy, that's when the Sox lay down. The Flubs handed the Sox the game on a silver platter. This game may have turned our season around. We would have been 61/2 out with 100 to play. Horrible at bats by Ramirez, Konkero and Quentin. Had Lou been forced to pitch to Rios, Sox win. Edited June 14, 2010 by mcgrad70
Kalapse
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) Why not, he does not make that much. If he accepts, ink a two year deal. If he declines take the draft picks, put the ball in his court for PR sake. Flowers is not pushing anyone at this point. If he accepts (which he 100% would) then he's going to arbitration, not signing a 2 year deal. He makes $6.75M and would get a raise in arbitration, a 2 year deal would net him $6M total at the most. Balta1701
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Why not, he does not make that much. Yes, he does. By my math, the Sox have about $10 million or so to spend this offseason and will have 8+ spots to fill. You offer AJ arbitration, and he takes up $7 million+ of it. elrockinMT
It was a good game. My hat is off to both Gavin Floyd and Ted Lilly, but for the Sox not to at least tie the game in the 9th, and I think we should have scored a couple, was an absolute farce. A nice little run against bad NL teams might get some prospects shipped off for our run that will never appear. Everyone can only see what's in front their eyes. Most of you act like the Sox are incapable of a turnaround. It's unlikely I know , but personally I rather be wrong thinking they can turn it around then be right knowing they will suck the rest of the year. By my quick math and arb guesses I'd say $92M due to 16 players. With attendance trending downward this season we could see our $100M payroll slashed as well.
