2010-2011 NHL thread

Can anyone tell me why the lower seeds in hockey seem to win a lot more than they do in basketball? It seems almost every year or so an 8 seed either beats the 1 seed or at least comes damn close while it is very rare in basketball(although the grizzlies have looked good so far). Is it just the nature of hockey or parity in the league or something else?

In basketball your best players are on the court almost all game. In hockey, they aren't. Also, lucky bounces are common in hockey.
