Interesting. Peavy to DL? or Randy Williams released?

SoxAce
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) All signs point to Peavy going to the DL Was thinking the same thing.. just didn't want to post it quite yet unless I was sure of it. Either that or Lillibridge will be gone back down. (which I can't see happening with the lack of depth behind the injured Teahen)

chetkincaid
And the plot thickens... I just hope he doesn't come up here and suck real bad. Hey, wouldn't it be freaking phenomenal if he pitched the game against the Nats and Strasburg, and actually OUTPITCHED HIM for the W?? How cool would that be? justBLAZE
If Peavy wasn't going on DL why would they call him up today and loser a roster spot ? Unless a reliever is going down but I doubt this is the case.

Unless a reliever is going down but I doubt this is the case. You can have him travel with the big club for a day until we know for sure if Peavy will be able to go this weekend. If Peavy clears all his tests/drills today and is a go for Fri/Sat then Hudson goes back to Charlotte and no official move is ever made. If Peavy can't go then you place him on the DL retroactive to the 12th, send down Lillibridge or cut ties with Williams (most likely scenario if Peavy isn't DL'd) and give Hudson a start in Washington. Heads22
If RAAANDY was really the one leaving, Torres would seem like the more natural fit, but, hey, whatever.
justBLAZE
He probably left Charlotte but won't join the team until tomorrow in Washington DC where a formal announcement will be made, IMHO.

NorthSideSox72
If Peavy doesn't go to the DL, but Hudson is coming up... this may be their way of switching out Williams for Threets while also covering Peavy for a start. Williams released, Hudson in, then Hudson gone and Threets in.
bighurt4life
Another possibility is that we have a deal in place to move Sweaty Freddy, just hasn't been announced yet.
elrockinMT
It is so much fun to specuate on possible moves. I have seen nothing yet official so I am assuming that Hudson is being laced on ready alert just in case Jake has to go on the DL. But, he just might get pushed back a game or three too and no move happens.

scenario
It's a short trip from Charlotte to DC. It is possible that they just have Hudson make the trip, in case Peavy isn't able to go, and they need to activate him. If so, no roster moves would take place until that decision was made. And if not needed, he simply returns to Charlotte. If I had to guess, I'd bet Hudson pitches Friday vs. Strasburg... allowing Jake to skip one turn in the rotation... and that they send down Lillibridge to open a spot.
