Kalapse
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) That is literally the worst lineup in all of baseball. Nobody in that lineup has an OPS over .800. O.O Andruw Jones is 2 for his last 30. I absolutely hate watching that guy hit, his swing is pure garbage (you can get away with that s*** when you're 27 and juiced up) and he seems to be incapable of making any sort of in-AB adjustments. Kalapse
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) Wow and we thought it was bad when Kotsay batted 5th , now he's 3rd. Dayan doesn't hit RH all that well so no surprise there but if he's just coming uo to play against lefties, thats a waste. This is a big problem with young left handed hitters especially. They struggle against left handed pitching in the minors then get called up to the bigs at age 24, the manager sees that they couldn't hit lefties and sits them against most left handed pitchers so they never learn how to hit left handed pitching. 4 years later you have a 28 year old who couldn't hit a lefty to save his life mostly because he was never given the opportunity as a young player. If Viciedo can't hit righties then he has no future as an everyday player in the majors, it's as simple as that. And if we called him up to hit in a strict platoon with Vizquel then we're doing him an incredible disservice.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
On the bright side I remember the last time we all b****ed about the lineup being this bad the Sox scored a lot of runs and won though I can't remember when it was .
Kalapse
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) Our 3-hitter has a .673 OPS. That is a well-constructed line-up there Ozzie. I just looked at the splits and Kotsay has 0 hits against left-handed pitching (granted only 10 at-bats). That is funny. He's also 6 for 36 with RISP this season. Not so good. I agree but could be Ozzie just wants to get him off on the right foot against a lefty then he'll probably see more time against righties. iamshack
You're going to sit PK and not put Viciedo at first, which seems like a position we could hide him at a bit...

That would be John Lannan's specialty, and he's the starter on Sunday.

South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jun 19, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) MDGonzales Sox lineup (no Viciedo): Pierre lf, Vizquel 3b, Kotsay 1b, Jones cf, Quentin rf, AJ c, Ramirez ss, Beckham 2b, Peavy p Fire Ozzie
iamshack
The only possible justification for this is that Ozzie thinks Peavy will pitch like 2007 Peavy and we won't need PK or Rios in the lineup to pull off the win....or that Jake is hurt and will pitch so poorly that it won't matter that we have PK and Rios in the lineup. And sitting them both in the same game will kill two birds with one stone...
Cali
Wow...I was all pissed at Strasburg and the Nats for f***ing around with his pitching date and making this game a FOX game cause I wouldn't get to see it and miss Viciedo's first start.... Now I'm just pissed at Ozzie haha I'm glad I can't watch this game....
Harry Chappas
If the Sox were in a long stretch of games sitting Rios today and Konerko tomorrow would make sense...this team is on a roll and he sits them in the same game during a stretch of 6 games in 8 days. I assume Pierre and AJ will sit tomorrow If lefties hit whoever is pitching Kotsay is fine but Jones has no business ever playing over Rios. Terrible move. Dick Allen
Maybe Viciedo is sick or something, but if he isn't it makes zero sense to have him on the roster if you have to so carefully pick his spots. I hope Stone blasts into Ozzie like he did Lou, 21 year olds need to play. That said, the defense has helped the Sox win. But if Konerko isn't playing then why not Viciedo at 1B? If he is so unprepared to play, again assuming he isn't sick or something, he needs to go back to Charlotte today.
