Sox at Washington 6-20 game thread 12:30 first pitch

Our chances of winning anything significant rest in Quentin doing something, not Teahen.

Teahen should never have been acquired in the first place. I just hope somehow he's turned into a utility guy.

His name is a synonym for buzzkill.

Teahen's much better than Josh Fields or Chris Getz. You still do that deal today. Probably not the extension, but he's appreciably better than either guy he was traded for.

Willingham using Beckham's intro song? Well I guess he hasn't earned exclusivity this season.

Beckham's not even using that song any more.

I'm wondering if Willingham's at bats are making Beckham tear up.

Who cares if he's better than Fields or Getz?

He still should be a utility guy at best. Maybe we should have traded Fields or Getz for some other mediocre player.

Because he essentially took Getz's starting spot.

Teahen can take over Kotsay's job but do it better than Kotsay in the fact Teahen can play any OF or IF spot other than SS,CF or C. He then can be your main lefty bat off the bench.

We were discussing it in the game thread. Unless I'm thinking of Friday, don't feel like going back to check.

As I jsut noted, he really isn't. At least not yet.

The biggest difference is Quentin is batting .321 with RISP where Teahen is batting .233. Otherwise they do seem similar.

Are you saying you'd rather see Teahen start for us or Fields sit in the minors and Getz sit the bench?

I'd rather have any option than Mark starting.

Frankly, yes. Have you looked at Getz or Fields's season? Fields is gone for the year, Getz is just awful.

And I'm not going to give guys credit for that. If you're hitting .321 and you're a .200 hitter, you're just as likely to hit .100 with RISP the rest of the season.

The question is whether or not Quentin is a .200 hitter. So far this year, he is a consistent .200 hitter.

His avg. has risen 10 points in the last 10 games in which he is 9 for 37 which is still only .242 but its still improving.

Exactly. A .242 average is 1 hit better than he's hit all season over that length. That's nothing.

Getz is just a mediocre player who should be used in a platoon situation.

Had Ozzie been smarter with Getz and Nix last year, we could have gotten a lot more out of them.

Getz was barely replacement level last year.

Well, Fields is currently unable to walk properly, and Getz is a steaming pile of suck, hitting below .200.
