Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) The trouble is; he had a 9 for 19 / 12 for 31 stretch in the middle of May. He's gotta keep this up for another week or 2 before I believe he's back, he's fooled me before and I don't want to get my heart broken again. Exactly. Will know whether he's really back to being TCQ again in a couple weeks. But it's certainly fun to dream a little. Look at what Josh Hamilton's resurgence has done for the Rangers. Their offense was already pretty damn good. With Hamilton in 2008 form, it might be the best in the AL.

Funny, that's how I feel about the Sox in general right now (although they obviously never really had a good stretch of play before the one they're in the middle of right now.) greg775
Great win. I forget which of you were preaching during our worst times of April and May that the season wasn't over and we might still turn it around, but I congratulate you. You should remind us who you were with your most positive post(s). I know there were at least 2 of you maybe 3-4-5. I just couldn't see it. It was easy to disagree/mock you upon reading them at that time. No matter what happens the rest of the way, I'm going to try to temper my bitterness/anger because I never ever thought this team could get its s*** together after playing so badly for week atter week. -- Can CQ be getting hot?? Would be very nice. Great job tonight by him. -- I guess if the team immediately goes in the tank after returning to AL competition it might be easy to rip the team again, but my god, great job White Sox in rolling the past couple weeks. Wow. Edited June 24, 2010 by greg775

Rowand44
Quentin's on pace for 110 rbi's or something stupid like that. Pretty wild considering how awful he's been for the majority of the season. Hopefully he's back now but as some others have said, I'm not sold yet.

Wow. I never gave up . The pitching hitting and defense were all so bad it just couldn't continue especially with so many with proven track records all going bad at the same time. Now the pitching and defense are above average while the hitting isn't as bad as before and very good recently with RISP. In April I think a lot more than 4 or 5 were saying its too early to give up but as we got into the 1st week of June it had dwindled to only maybe 10 or less. So many people post and some post rarely so the repetitive nature of the negative posts far outweighs those willing to fight the good fight against the wave of en masse disbelievers. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
I remember Hiatus in one thread said he was in and after some particularly bad game and pretty much everyone saying how bad the Sox were, he said forget it it's over, though I have no idea if he was serious or not. greg775
To be fair what this team has done over the last 2 weeks has been pretty unbelievable. Yeah and that's why those who kept saying it was early and we were still in it, deserve credit. The team was so bad for so long. Hopefully the pitching keeps this up cause our lineup still isn't too dandy.

Dick Allen
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 01:55 AM) Yeah, Q's RBI total and pace shows just how overrated (if not meaningless, although I wouldn't go that far) RBI's really are. With runners on base, his numbers are very similar to the numbers he put up in 2008. I don't know how driving in runs is overrated. Obviously Quentin has had a tough year, but he's made the most out of lack of production. There are many ways to hit .227. We all would like it to be much higher for Carlos, but his .227 is a lot better than most.
hogan873
NL teams or not, the Sox have now won four consecutive series and are trying to sweep a third straight. This team has got its stuff together, and it started with the pitching. If it keeps up, and Quentin earns the T back in his name, the Sox can go back to playing AL teams and beat them, too. And speaking of Quentin, RBIs are hardly meaningless. It is amazing, though, that he could end up with over 100 RBIs with an average below .240. I hope he's back, because if he is this team just gets more dangerous.

whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 08:09 AM) That is an absurd statement.... yes driving in runs is completely meaningless........ Like I said (but you apparently didn't notice), I wouldn't go as far as to say it's meaningless. However, you can drive in as many runs as you want, but if you're doing it with a high 600's OPS like Q was for most of this year, it doesn't mean anywhere near as much as people tend to think it does because you're still hurting your team offensively overall. RBI's have some value, and it's good Q has contributed quite a few of them even though he was a bad offensive player for almost the entire season until what appears to be a recent turnaround, but nowhere near that which some people think. They also keep count of all the outs you make too though, and the fact that Q had an OPS under 700 as recently as about a week ago. A lot more to an offensive player than RBI's and batting average.
