Just makes me want to see Viciedo play more at DH and give Vizquel some rest too. Come on Ozzie Kotsay isn't all that !

Again, I really think we are underestimating the strength and desire to play that Omar has.

 

Hawk says he is the most excited guy on the field for batting practice, fielding practice, etc. He's in fantastic shape, been playing his entire life...I don't think he is as fragile as many here believe.

I think Omar can handle catching a ball and swinging a bat 4 times a game.

 

He's a special kind of player, and always has been. I think he can continue to compete at a reasonably competent level (especially defensively) on an every-day basis for the remainder of the year if we called upon him to do so.

Right, baseball isnt that hard to play either like the other sports.... the part that slows players down is the gym/staying in shape.

If it was that easy, Omar wouldn't be the oldest position player in MLB. There would be plenty of others.

Fisk did it as a catcher and a few guys did it as outfielders and 1B but he'd be the first "infielder". I know the man is a freak and all but he's reaching unprecedented territory and even Ozzie said last week that Omar was brought in here to be a reserve for a reason.

If Carlton Fisk can do it as a catcher, Omar can do it as an infielder.

 

The reason it hasn't been done is because there are almost always better options available...unfortunately for us, we've managed to have one of the biggest 3rd base gaps in baseball history

Vizquel also isn't as good of a hitter overall as he has shown during this hot streak. He's a very good defensive player but he's more of a .250/.310/.320/.630 hitter than the .315/.387/.426/.813 hitter we've seen over the past 3 weeks or so. That's just not good enough to carry as an everyday hitter in an AL lineup and that's the guy we'll see sometime soon.

This is probably the best scenario, with Lillibridge being the odd man out.

 

I'd rather that Viciedo stays up to play 3B, with Vizquel getting ample time at 3B. But with Dayan rotting on the bench since being called up, I don't know if Ozzie would go this way. I don't understand their reasoning at all.

I'll give you that. In the summer I'm completely exhausted every day and have to go back out there and do it the next day . I do however get 2 days off per week and I'm way older than Omar. And I'm constantly on the move for 8 hrs. Omar can sit on the bench or might go several innings with no action at his position or no baserunning.
