chetkincaid
He's been released by the Rays. I don't think he'll help the the Sox out much. Thoughts?
hogan873
Is he a better option than Kotsay?
chetkincaid
I don't know but I don't think Blalock would put the team over the top.
hogan873
Uh...I don't know. Just looked him up. He hasn't had many opportunities this year, but a .277 OBP last year? Yikes.
Balta1701
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 08:21 AM) Uh...I don't know. Just looked him up. He hasn't had many opportunities this year, but a .277 OBP last year? Yikes. I think it's fair to say he's been injured for a long while now, which played into that number for last year. Blalock has a better batting average this year than Kotsay, but a lower OPS (yes, a lower OPS than Kotsay). With Kotsay at least being passable at 1b, I don't see how this is a strong possibility of an upgrade.

JorgeFabregas
The guy the Rays released him in favor of has been decent for the Giants.
chw42
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) The guy the Rays released him in favor of has been decent for the Giants. He's been way more than decent. He has a .438 wOBA and a slugging above .600 with the Giants so far in 70 PAs. Maybe Burrell can only hit in the NL? Vance Law
Ah, yes. They're basically the same guy to me in my head. They are also kind of, but less so, Eric Hinske.
