qwerty
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) I guess I shouldn't have made fun of anything Zumaya might have done to cause his freak injury. At least he lasted more than the four starts you claimed at the start of the season.
TitoMB345
Man, it went from devastating elbow injury requiring TJS to a strained lat muscle, to a detached lat requiring surgery and ending his season. The emotional roller coaster!! WHY OH WHY! It IS Robbie Hummel all over again (although Hummel was way more important to the team than Peavy, obviously)
chw42
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) You sure of this? If the muscle "fell off", how else is it going to get back on? It won't do it all by itself, at least not in a speedy time.
Kalapse
This has been a pretty depressing 18 hour stretch.
chw42
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) This has been a pretty depressing 18 hour stretch. First Peavy gets hurt Then No Wade and Bosh Now we find out the injury might result in him being done for the year And we will find out that LeBron is as good as gone. BigSqwert
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) First Peavy gets hurt Then No Wade and Bosh Now we find out the injury might result in him being done for the year And we will find out that LeBron is as good as gone. We'll probably find out later today that Kenny gave Andruw a 4 year extension.

Yeah the Bulls got shafted. I figured they would have been the top target with Noah and Rose.. and it's f***ing Chicago. Best city in the nation, bar none! Heads22
Well, I hate the Bulls, so it's largely positive outside of the Peavy news for me.
fathom
Looking like September at best for Peavy, but doesn't sound like he'll need surgery.
BigSqwert
This was a punch to the gut. So who likes our chances to take the division now? Lets pray that the Tigers/Twins don't acquire Lee.
Kalapse
From DeLuca: Detatched lat for Peavy likely means he's out till Sept. best-case. White Sox will pursue starter on trade market. What? Why?

fathom
We have to give Hudson a chance first to see what he can do.

chw42
Maybe because Kenny is going to trade Hudson. After all, the Sox were "all over" Dunn.

You're really not worried about the downgrade? It's the pitching that has been keeping us alive. A weakened rotation with a mediocre offense will most likely not win this division. But that's just my opinion.

Heads22
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) That would be stupid. I'm sure by starter, he means a starter at DH.

Thing is, our farm is at the bottom of the league so other than guys like Hudson, Flowers, Viciedo... we don't have much trade-able assets especially with guys like Mitchell, Thompson, etc.. injured. whitesoxfan101
Hudson has more potential as a starter than several of our everyday players do at their spots. Get a bat first. Please.
ptatc
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) Where's Dr. ptatc? If it's truly detached the season is over for him. The long tendon of the lat can be ruptured from the attachment site in the bicepital groove on the anterior part of the humeral head. This would be the grade 3 tendon injury. If this is what happened he will need surgery. The physician will need to find the tendon re-route it back up through the groove and re-attach it. The good news is that tendons usually respond very well to re-attachment to bone. If it is in the mid-tendon area, it is much worse but it usually comes off the bone. This is similar to the injury that Mitchell suffered in ST where a tendon pops off the bone. This is a best case 3 month injury and worst 8 to 9 month injury. I have never seen this injury in a pitcher. I have seen it in other throwers, javelin specifically and it went well. Chisoxfn
Wow, what a kick in the nuts: - We lose out on Wade/Bosh - My teeth hurt from dentist visit today (just a cleaning, thankfully no cavities) - Peavy out for a while - We might lose out on Lebron Lebron coming to Chitown could help redeem it all!!
