Angels have been sucking this series.

To say the least...we continue to make errors and their offense has been too asleep all series to capitalize. Plus in game one of the series the Angels turned a DP and all nine position players stayed on the field having no idea that the inning was over. They are sleep walking through this thing.

"Plenty of scouts on hand in Arizona. D-backs are listening to all offers, but Dan Haren likely to stay unless AZ blown away by offer."

And I would argue he's every bit as good as Lee, and even if he's not, he's going to cost more to acquire than Lee simply because he's locked up for another 3 years beyond this at very reasonable prices (something like $12.5 mill this year and next year, and a $15.5 mill team option for 2012). Dan Haren is going to be ridiculously expensive.

They'd have to give up a ton, and it's just not worth it, considering the needs of the offense opposed to the needs of the pitching staff.

Bob Nightengale said that? Oh damn, I guess I don't want Haren then. My opinion sucks.

Castro punked him with the bubblegum cup hat trick.

How'd I know... :lolhitting Watching the other night and a buddy pointed out to me that Castro has a man-sized jaw. Would not want to meet him in a dark alley, tho his demeanor seems more like Billy Madison than Brock Lesnar.

It wouldn't matter if the interim GM or the homeless guy on the street said it, Dan Haren is going to cost a lot to acquire, and that's not an opinion. There is a huge demand for quality starting pitching in the league, and, whether you'd like to admit it or not, a 4.38 ERA is a quality starting pitcher, even at $12.5 mill, considering the success he's had in the past and that much of that inflated ERA was largely due to the first 2 months of the season (when he gave up 16 homers in 74 innings). In his last 7 starts, he's put up a 2.92 ERA and allowed only 3 home runs in 49.1 IP.
