He's not, he's just like Tyler when it comes to that.

Really? I must be thinking of someone else, I thought NYY had a defensive guy at C they were high on, I assumed it was Montero. Clearly I'm not up on some of the prospects in other systems.

Montero is considered a poor defender and will likely move off C.

CJ is not a prospect at all

CJ is not a prospect worth anything in trade, but that doesn't mean he's entirely not a prospect. I still think he's got a shot to be a utility IF on this team in a year or so.

Francisco Cervelli? Young, defensive wiz who is garnering more and more love in NY.

How is this not GREAT news? It went from Twins leading for him to him going to the Yankees. Please don't tell me you thought the Sox would contend for his services?

The Yankees will be unbeatable in the playoffs with Lee so that is what I am more worried about. I hate super teams.

Sherman latest:

2:44pm: The Mariners are backing off, according to Sherman. The Yankees believe they are no longer in the Lee sweepstakes, as the M's have gone in another direction (all Twitter links). Sherman says 'the Yankees aren't getting Cliff Lee,' since another team has entered discussions aggressively.

Heyman latest:

2:57pm: The Mariners didn't accept the Yankees' offer of Montero, Adams and a third prospect, so the Yankees may walk away from the discussions, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (via Twitter).

I pulled this from MLBTR consolidation.

MIN? CHW? Who might the other team be?

Seems like things are moving pretty fast.

A FEW teams? Fascinating.

Please no DET or MIN. Pretty please an NL team gets him.

Apparently the "mystery team" is the Rangers. I would believe they would offer a package around Smoak.

Olney agrees.

Rangers are back on Lee. Hard to imagine Texas making this deal happen without Justin Smoak being part of the deal. less than a minute ago via web

Wow so it looks like Jesus Montero-David Adams-Zach McAllister for Cliff Lee.

We could have gotten Lee for Flowers-Retherford-Torres. Unbelievable. I don't get surprised when the Yankees sign top guys in FA, but when they dupe teams into these trades; it's pretty evident how good their front office is.

You're a fool if you really think that a Flowers/Retherford/Torres package would even get the M's attention. Montero is a top 5 prospect in all of baseball. We don't even have anyone like that in our system, unless you want to talk about Beckham.

Yeah, Flowers is no where near the prospect that Montero is. For us, we would have to trade something like Hudson, Flowers, Danks2, and someone else I would believe.

Was just looking at the Rangers' prospect rankings at Baseball America, their top prospects each year have had a crazy success rate:

2001 Carlos Pena, 1b Rays

2002 Hank Blalock, 3b Rangers

2003 Mark Teixeira, 3b Yankees

2004 Adrian Gonzalez, 1b Padres

2005 Thomas Diamond, rhp Cubs

2006 Edinson Volquez, rhp Reds

2007 John Danks, lhp White Sox

2008 Elvis Andrus, ss Rangers

2009 Neftali Feliz, rhp Rangers
