ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) So a piece of CR/AP. I just thought it would be funny if he was, I have no evidence.
ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Wynn Pelzer. Was just saying it would have been funny if the Hebrew Hammer got traded for Tejada.
chw42
What was the point of getting Tejada for the Padres? He can't play SS anymore, his declining power is going to decline even more in San Diego. I don't get it.

chw42
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Classic case of making a move just to make a move. The sad part is that you know Tejada will take time away from Jerry Hairston, who has a .291 wOBA while playing some great defense (7.1 UZR). All of this results in a 1.7 WAR. Tejada has a .296 wOBA, plays bad defense at 3B, and has a negative WAR. You see who this makes zero sense, none? If I'm a Padres fan, I would be really mad. OilCan
Heard on 104.9 The Horn in Austin TX: Houston Chronicle writer Richard Justice said that the best bet for Lance is to be traded to the Rangers to fill in the 1b hole now that Justin Smoak was traded earlier this month. You can also read Justice' s blog @ http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/ It makes sense. The Rangers have a hole in 1b and if Lance is traded to the Rangers, it would keep him in Texas which he was born in New Braunfels (Between Austin and San Antonio), went to Rice U in Houston and was drafted by the hometown 'Stros. Wow, the Rangers would be adding a LOT of people (and payroll) if that happened.... Molina, Cliff Lee, Jorge Cantu, and Lance Berkman. Geeez. AWhiteSoxinNJ
As stated above, the Cantu trade takes them out of the Berkman sweepstakes.

OilCan
hmmmm....good point. Just heard it on my radio though, so.....dunno. Seems that Mr. Justice forgot that too, or was thinking sentimental about Berkman possibly staying in TX.
beautox
Berkman since June 1st .259/.385/.465 .850 OPS and he even has 3 SB over that stretch, for July hes batting .233/.404/.521 .925 OPS. In June he was sporting an above average wOBA of .357 for July .392 inching closer to his career mark of .405. Lance is also holding it down with the glove 2.7 UZR. For a little comparison Dunn since June 1st .276/.345/.558 .903 OPS, for July .278/.363/.557 .920 OPS. His June wOBA .370, July wOBA .391. Adam is slightly below average with his glove -0.6. for some perspective Konerko has been a -6.8 UZR at 1B. Honestly the way this trade deadline has looked thus far, it appears most teams are still suffering some fiscal hardships, ideally Berkman could be had with some cash in hand from the astros for some mid level prospects of the non Hudson, Viciedo, Flowers, Morel variety. And if that doesn't work hold off and make the stretch run with what we have currently on our roster. Put Teahen in RF TL;DR Quentin = DYE in RF. Also teahen was putting up this line in the 10 games before he hit the DL .364/.389/.545 with 4 extra base hits. If the sox do that we improve our outfield defense, and can hope to keep CQ healthy for the stretch run, while actually having a slightly below competent defender at 3B (Vizquel). caulfield12
Slightly below competent defender at 3B? (Vizquel) What? Are you sure you're not thinking of Viciedo? Edited July 30, 2010 by caulfield12
