At this age more into the lounge scene.

Alot of the clubs in Vegas are part super-club, part-lounge. An AWESOME place is XS in the Encore, most expensive club ever built and half of it is outside around the pool, that is a must check out. Pure and Tao are overall the most popular, but at Pure, if you want to sit down you'll most likely have to get bottle service. At Tao, you can head up to Tao Beach (above the club) and sneak into a chair. Voodoo Lounge has the best view of Vegas (top of the Rio, sort of like Ghostbar and Moon/Playboy Club is at the Palms.)

You know I will dude. She has no control over me! I am my own man!

I'm seriously thinking of doing the New York / Chicago double if I'm around next summer in the Northern Hemisphere, so I'll have to hold you to that.

Which bars do you recommend in Vegas? The wife and I will be there for a weekend in September.

I've always liked Ghostbar.

Sqwert,

Where are you staying? You can pretty much find the same 4-5 different concepts in every casino, just with a slightly different spin depending on the theme and price-point of the particular casino. I don't go out to the places in the casinos that often simply because it's not really feasible to spend cash like a tourist when you're a local. But I have been out and around enough entertaining friends and what not to have a pretty basic idea of what's out there.

Let me know what part of the Strip you'll be staying on and what kind of plans you and your wife have and I will be happy to give you some recommendations.

We're staying at the newish Grand Hilton Resort. I don't even think they have a casino. We get a room for dirt cheap and I like using them to accumulate reward points.

Are there any good areas you guys recommend in Chicago with a few good bars within walking distance of each other?

Depends on what you're looking for. If you are wanting a college-type feel, then Lincoln Park/Wrigleyville are littered with those types all within a couple blocks in each neighborhood. Those are ones I am familiar with (I don't particularly like the area, but that's where my friends go). Also, I have heard good thing about the Wicker Park area on Milwaukee if you are more the artsy type. Really depends what you are looking for.

Sounds like this place will be awesome, I'm looking forward to checking it out the next time I'm back.

This bit sounds very cool:

The back room, finally, will accommodate a second bar, seats and a stage for Drinking & Writing, a theater series that explores the connections between imbibing, creativity and literature through readings, personal narratives and audience participation during approximately one-hour performances.

Drinking & Writing will make the location its permanent home, and program the space with monthly shows, according Sean Benjamin, one of its organizers, including the forthcoming "The City that Drinks," which will examine Chicago writers and their habits with alcohol.

"I think it's going to be one of the first brewpubs in the city that integrates a theater into it," Benjamin said. During performances, Drinking & Writing will take a door charge, while Haymarket makes beer sales.

Beer and booze is so intertwined with the arts and with all of human history, and this sounds like a very cool exploration of those connections.

Looks like it might open up in October?

My fiancee made a reservation there for next Wednesday...like three weeks ago. First decent time slot available.

Just went there, it was really good. Lots of interesting food, and the menu changes pretty often. Also a good beer selection.

Vince Vaughn was there, so it must be quality B)

BUMP.

My wife actually volunteered to watch the Sox opener with me this Friday (meanwhile my Friday afternoon meeting got cancelled!). :headbang

Anyone know a good place to watch the game here in Knoxville?

I'm sure Buffalo Wild Wings on the strip would have it, but I'm not sure how crowded it will be on a Friday afternoon.

Yeah, I did. I did end up going that week you quoted but they didn't have their s*** in order yet, but that was understandable. I have ordered take out a couple time as well. Food selection/quality hasn't been great. Beer list is intense.

It looks like it's going to be more of a place to drink and order some random food if need be, but not necessarily a place to go to dinner all the time - maybe hit up dinner before it. I do want to try a few more things on there though as far as food is concerned.

Have you been there a bunch?

I went to the founders brewery night and another time and left unimpressed with the food selection and they hadnt released their own beers yet. I was hoping for a local rock-bottom type place.
