mreye
Never been and just thinking (dreaming) about a trip next spring for the family. Any tips? I'm freaking clueless! Most importantly, are there any friendly forums out there (That aren't run by Disney)? The most I ever learned about Vegas was from multiple forums (I now consider myself close to an expert) Same goes for when we were planning a cruise - forums taught me everything! I'll even plug them. (The cruise got cancelled - my wife went and got herself pregnant)
HuskyCaucasian
I happen to be a Disney expert/fanboi. I'd be happy to help you with anything you need. One forum I love is WDWMagic.com. THere's a bunch of really great people over there. When next spring are you planning on going? Try your best to avoid holiday weekends if at all possible. My wife has a book that has a graph of the peaks and valleys of attendance. It's a great guide to judge when to go. Quin
Go for 6 days. It is absolutely miserable there otherwise. Arrive to each of the 4 parks early in the morning. Do something like this: Day 1 Animal Kingdom - Get Fast Passes for Kali River Rapids & Mount Everest as soon as you can, then get one for the other after you use the first. Day 2 Disney's Wide World of Sports / A Water Park - Getting to cool off and see some sports after the large and warm Animal Kingdom is a nice break. Day 3 EPCOT - Get Fast Passes for Soarin' ASAP. Hit all the rides in Future World and take the time in the World Showcase. Best fireworks show in Disney period. Day 4 Hollywood Studios - Fast Pass Tower of Terror and Rock N' Roller Coaster in either order. Plenty of shows, and the night show is second only to EPCOT Day 5 Downtown Disney/Other Water Park - Let your feet rest, cool off, and enjoy some nightlife to rest up for a final day. Day 6 Magic Kingdom - The mother of all things. Fast Pass Space Mountain ASAP. During the Final Fireworks and Parade are PRIME times to get on to rides with short lines. Fireworks are actually best viewed from the Thunder Mountain Rollercoaster
FlaSoxxJim
Quinarvy has given you a pretty darn good roadmap, actually. The only thing I would definitely change is I would not schedule Magic Kingdom for the end of the trip — in case of rain, must-do attractions being down, etc. Also if you have young kids there as absolutely no way you'll be able to get away with just one day at Magic Kingdom — nor will you want to. You'll be there for multiple days so it's a no-brainer that you'll have Park Hopper passes. They come in very hands if you just need to hit one or two rides at one park before moving on, or if you want to hit a fireworks display or an evening of drinking around the World Showcase at EPCOT after you've done something else by day. The best tequila selection in Florida, and some of the most exotic margaritas you'll ever encounter are in a little bar called Tequila Cava inside the Mexico pavilion. A sipping flight of very good tequilas will set you back less than $20. Animal Kingdom closes earlier than the other parks (6-7pm) in consideration of the animals, so you'll still have a lot of time in the early evening to do something else after your Animal Kingdom day. If you have kids that are dinosaur fans, the T-Rex Cafe at Downtown Disney marketplace is an absolute must-do dinner spot. It's like a Rainforest Cafe where all the animatronics are dinosaurs. If you get rained out of outdoor activities one day, consider doing an inside Day at Disney Quest at Downtown Disney West End. Lots of virtual reality activities and every 1980s-era stand up video arcade game imaginable set to free play to keep us old farts entertained. If you are staying on site at a Disney Resort tell me where and I'll give you some specific recommendations there. During weekends for resort guests certain parks have "Magic Hours" where they will open the gates at 7am and you can knock out soem of the big attractions before the general public shows up. Take full advantage of the free WDW transportation system — You can get from anywhere to anywhere in the park (though it might take you two buses). There is also a useful direct Monorail connection between Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. There is a very under-utilized back entrance to EPCOT form the Disney Boardwalk entertainment complex that brings you right into the World Showcase between England and France. There are also two good putt putt golf spots on WDW property if you need a break from the hectic park pace, one is right next to Blizzard Beach and the other is close to the Boardwalk and EPCOT. There's a reason it's called the Happiest Place on Earth! And TMI or not, my second child was conceived there. So. . . watch how much the your lovely bride drinks at EPCOT or it could be Daddy Time for Shipps.

I need at least a year before I want to take on that crazy life style.
Buehrle>Wood
If you don't want to go for too long, there's no reason to spend a day at each park. You can easily split it up 2 and 2. I'm now actually used to the 1 day 4 park gauntlet. Also, if you plan on going or doing any of the Universal stuff (which I would strongly recommend), I'd stay at one of their hotels. You get free front of the line on all of the rides anyways and their hotels are just downright awesome. Portofino Bay is my personal favorite. It'll also mean you're right to or close to Universal City Walk, which is easily one of the coolest spots in all of Orlando, especially for an older crowd. hogan873
I was just there with the family a couple weeks ago. I was extremely impressed by how the place runs. As far as where to stay, the Beach Club is fantastic (if a bit pricey). Their pool area is the best I've ever been to.
