NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) Flowers still isn't hitting in average but has 10 BBs in his last 6 games. Part of the reason Flowers is hitting for a low average but walking a lot might be that, at least lately, his lineup "protection" has been Josh Kroeger, who hasn't hit for s*** all year. Dick Allen
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 07:15 AM) Part of the reason Flowers is hitting for a low average but walking a lot might be that, at least lately, his lineup "protection" has been Josh Kroeger, who hasn't hit for s*** all year. He's picked it up in the walks department, but this season has been a huge dissappointment offensively thus far. To give any blame to Kroeger when you are on a pace to strikeout almost 200 times in 500 AB in AAA seems a bit silly. He's just struggled. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 07:34 AM) He's picked it up in the walks department, but this season has been a huge dissappointment offensively thus far. To give any blame to Kroeger when you are on a pace to strikeout almost 200 times in 500 AB in AAA seems a bit silly. He's just struggled. If you look closely, I was referring specifically to the low average and high walk rate. Also, while his season has been disappointing, he is still getting on base, and hitting for power. This combo suggests one possibility is that he's not getting much to hit, and he's getting himself out chasing bad pitches. That's why the Kroeger theory. Also note I said A factor, not only. scenario
Flowers' splits for the season are interesting. Can't hit worth squat in Charlotte? Strange. And had the May from hell it appears.
Balta1701
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) And had the May from hell it appears. As I've noted previously, that's the specific month when the Sox supposedly had him start trying a major overhaul of his swing to try to reduce the number of K's. Ozzie Ball
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) Flowers' splits for the season are interesting. Can't hit worth squat in Charlotte? Strange. And had the May from hell it appears. It's all on the BABIP's though. Hit the luck adjust button.
