Chet Lemon
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) Even when he throws a no-hitter he looks pretty unimpressive doing it. I don't think his no-hitter this year had anything to do w/ why KW made this trade.
Chisoxfn
I think we paid a steap price. I like Jacksons potential and will root for him to kick some ass with the Sox. We are better for this year with Jackson, but obviously Jackson makes a lot of money. I'm interested in seeing what way we go with a bat. AWhiteSoxinNJ
Would you stop overrating Hudson. He's the best prospect in a below average farm system. Jackson is by far a clear upgrade. The team is in a win now mode.
Knackattack
QUOTE (The Beast @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) Is it silly to assume that we keep Edwin Jackson and then trade something else to get a bat? No, if Kenny can get Berkman for cheap, it looks less bad.
HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) So according to Cowley this would mean the "shock the world" trade he mentioned wont occur not so. He said the big deal COULD effect deal Hudson, but since he has no solid info, that was only speculation.
bmags
If I would've guessed what dan hudson would net us...I would have been really bein conservative with jackson. mehrsf
Frank_Thomas
cst_sox Cooper has liked Jackson for awhile - so flipping the pitcher is by no means the end game. Think "Thornton Project II." 11 minutes ago I reallly love this trade barring a trade for a bat. A little steep but KW knows how to hold or trade his prsopects. chw42
QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) I don't get this trade at all. Can someone explain the benefit to this trade...because I don't see it at all. There is no benefit. If you lose the game today because you had to throw Lucas Harrel out there, then Jackson's value to this team the rest of the way decreases even more. Jackson projects to be a guy who can give you 1.5 wins from here on out, nothing awesome.
Capn12
So folks are up in arms about us overpaying on Jackson, but are ok if he is flipped for Adam Dunn, a 3 month rental? Color me confused.
caulfield12
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) there is none Hudson has control issues, and has never pitched in a pennant race. Jackson's best career year was the in AL Central, and he knows most of the teams and personnel already. The only White Sox starters (prospects) to amount to anything recently have been Richard and Gio Gonzalez, and that's going back 10 years. Proven veteran >>> Rookie pitcher in the heat of his first pennant race Finally, if Cooper didn't think he could work more with Jackson than Hudson, he undoubtedly would have told KW to forget it. G&T
Frankly I think it says something about the Sox's feelings about Peavy next year and KW wants a high upside guy, stuff guy. Be nice if money were coming back.
spiderman
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) Apparently Cooper likes Jackson - @cst_sox - Cooper has liked Jackson for awhile - so flipping the pitcher is by no means the end game. BearSox
Makes absolutely no sense to me. I understand going after Jackson, but I do not understand trading Hudson for him. Hudson is younger, cheaper, and offers just as much upside. I actually like Edwin Jackson, wanted us to acquire him last year before the Tigers did. But this is stupid. Yeah, yeah, yeah, coop MIGHT be able to fix him. But this season he has an ERA over 5 vs. an automatic out 3 times a game in the NL. Getting someone like Jackson would make more sense in the offseason when you would have time to work with him. But for in the middle of a playoff run!? There's no guarantee this season Jackson would be any better than Hudson. Just stupid if you ask me.

hi8is
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) Well, here we go again with the Cooper Will Fix Him posts. How many reclaimation projects have Coop failed on? I can only think of all the success he has had the point is - having a pitcher with the right stuff and Cooper to help harness that stuff - should logically equate to good things. It's not like the "Coop will fix him" posts are unfounded
Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Sox traded prospects never pan out. Clayton Richard and Gio Gonzalez are doing just fine.
Soxbadger
Hudson is only 3 years younger than Jackson. If money wasnt a concern I dont see how you cant like this trade.
