Kila Ka'aihue

What would the Royals want for Kila?

Has some pretty gaudy numbers with that .462 OBP and 1.055 OPS. Dude walks a TON and doesn't strike out too much. 26-year-old power lefty.

I am not up to speed with the Royals farm system, so I don't know how much they value him, but I wonder if he would come cheaper than Dunn or Berkman.

This guy came up a few years ago I THINK, and it was against the Sox. I was kind of impressed, and by looking at his minor league stats, I wonder why he can't make the big league club in KC.

However, I wouldn't get him saying "We got Ka'aihue for cheaper than Berkman". I'd get Ka'aihue as another guy in the system as the organization continues to attempt to rebuild the farm.

You don't think if we got Kila he would get a chance to be our DH? I mean, he is raking in AAA, and is a lefty bat. Also, he is 26, so he deserves to get a shot real soon.

I'm pretty sure the second that Guillen gets traded, they'll be calling up Kila. They've got Kila, Gordon, and Moustakas sitting in the minors raping ass right now.

Didn't Gordon get called up when DeJesus went on DL ?

He is a 26 year old who couldn't make the Royals. Its about all you really need to know.

To be fair he has been blocked. He is not taking playing time away from butler, who also just so happens to be their lone bright spot in the line-up. They are paying guillen 10 million, the royals of all teams. If guillen had a .600 ops, and kila ka'aihue was hitting the same way as he is now, you better believe they would still be trotting guillen out there daily. That's how organizations with such limited payrolls do business. They made the investment, they are all in, sink or swim.

Kila would be perfect, but I've seen information that KC said he's unavailable. At least he was a month or two ago.

And yeah, he's blocked by Butler, but I'm frankly surprised that the Royals haven't either found a way to add him to the roster (him and Butler at 1B and DH would work), or traded him for his value. Seems weird to not do one or the other at this point.
