Quin
I was at school early. I am happy about this news.
greg775
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 09:41 PM) I suppose you enjoy watching your games in silence and like to enjoy a cup of tea rather than a cold beer? You sound like a real downer to hang around with.... I said it might be funny to do it when Ozzie comes out to take a pitcher out if we're winning. It's just not a good idea. Our fan base doesn't need to chant Manny when a Sox player is at the plate. It's not funny and it's bitter and it doesn't help us win. Not to pile on, but why not just reconsider and admit it was a bad idea. I've said I was wrong many times.
chw42
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) Does your first line even deserve a comment? AJ cheated? We can be semi-objective when we look at the dropped third strike controversy can't we?
BigSqwert
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) We can be semi-objective when we look at the dropped third strike controversy can't we? It's not AJ's fault that the ump made a bad call. He hustled. No cheating involved.

Even if the ump made the wrong call, that doesn't mean AJ cheated.
Balta1701
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) We can be semi-objective when we look at the dropped third strike controversy can't we? "Cheating" is about as far from an accurate description as I'd give. AJ didn't break a rule there. At worst, it was a very close play that AJ forced the ump to make a call on, and if you think Paul caught the ball cleanly (I'm still totally convinced the video is inconclusive), then it was a blown call. chw42
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) No you can't. Well, you could say it but you would be absolutely wrong. There was no overwhelming evidence either way about that call. But you can definitely argue either way and still have a legit point about it. So no, you wouldn't be absolutely wrong. I was just making a point. Cheating in sports is everywhere. Rejecting somebody because they cheated one way or another while rooting for another person who cheated, or is cheating is contradictory. Cheating would be if AJ knocked the ball out of Paul's glove and then pretended he didn't.

greg775
I don't even have to get involved in this one. This was not a good example on the cheating topic. You are gonna get owned on this one.
chw42
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) Does your first line even deserve a comment? AJ cheated? Why shouldn't the first line deserve a comment? Those two got caught for steroids, just like Manny.

Balta1701
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) Or struck out and pretended he didn't... So, you think AJ knew for sure that the ball was caught and still ran? How many times do we see that happen anyway? I think it's pretty often, a guy comes anywhere close to trapping it and the batter forces the guy to throw to 1b just on the off chance they throw it away. greg775
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Why shouldn't the first line deserve a comment? Those two got caught for steroids, just like Manny. So I should burn my 05 gear of those two stiffs? I don't have their jerseys. I publicly will now express my disdain about them. If they cheated, they deserve a lot of scorn. I don't like them for cheating. Do I approve of them cheating? No. I never said we should give up the WS trophy if anybody cheated. SoxAce
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Or struck out and pretended he didn't... Take a look at the video again. He actually took a step or two toward the dugout, then realized Paul didn't tag him out (which usually all catchers do when a ball hits or comes close to hitting the dirt to avoid confusion) That is more equivalent to A.J.'s I.Q. (and Eddings f*** up) than it is cheating. Hell if Crede doesn't get that hit (and Ozuna doesn't steal that base) Angels fans would never bring it up. It would be in bad taste to boo or mock Konerko, Buehrle, Thornton, Rios, Quentin, Beckham, you know, the core of this team that has been great for us this season and in their careers.... but we are talking about Mark Kotsay! Mark F'ing Kotsay! He is only on this team because Ozzie likes him for some reason. He is no one special to this team. He can leave, and no one would be heartbroken. I doubt Kotsay jerseys are flying off the shelves. He is a nobody. It sucks you can't enjoy some good 'ole humor by partaking in some ballpark hijinks, but that's your opinion. I'll enjoy my Sox games and have fun with poking fun at Kotsay. I'm sure he will appreciate how loyal you are to him, no matter how terribly awful he is. greg775
It's not being a crabby guy thinking an idea that would embarrass the Sox fan base is a bad idea. Your idea was classless and not a good thing to do on any count. Chanting Manny when Ozzie brings the lineup card out ... that is funny. I don't think Boston fans care less that their two most dangerous hitters were cheaters.
