$40 a ticket, on average. 10,000 people. = $4 million.

Concessions, parking etc on top of that. And a single playoff game...with nearly 40k paying $50 a ticket and also guaranteeing season ticket sales for next year...

It doesn't take much in terms of publicity to cover $4 million.

You said 500 extra tickets sold a game. There are 16 home games left. 8000 x 40=320,000. If he helps them make the playoffs, then perhaps it will pay off, but odds are against that at the moment.

Nice... we need him. This has gotta be a real kick in the nuts to Thome, Dye, considering Sox could of had them all year for fraction of Manny's price for one month.

Jermaine Dye didn't want to DH. We still need to keep saying that. The Nats offered him about that much money to play OF too and he turned that down. Some guys don't want to take the pay cut.

Time to put the pedal to the metal.

My preferred lineup tomorrow:

7 Pierre

4 Beckham

B Ramirez

3 Konerko

9 Teahen

8 Rios

2 AJ

6 Ramirez

5 Vizquel

I like:

LF Pierre

SS Ramirez

DH Manny

1B Konerko

CF Rios

C Pierzynski

RF Jones

3B Vizquel

2B Beckham

Ozzie will probably go with Omar batting second and Alexei eighth, however.

Then they wouldn't have a backup middle infielder.

i see what your saying but this is ozzie we are talking about....if ramirez/beckham went down over the next few days they'd just put vizquel at their spot and put teahen at 3rd

1) Manny will NOT be batting 3rd or 4th for the White Sox. It will be 5th or 6th in the order.

2) I would expect Kotsay to be gone, maybe they hide on him on the DL. Lillibridge still is needed for backup IF and a pinch runner.

3) My guess is that this probably won't impact the Sox.. They have reverted back to a mediocre team, and will be 4 or 5 games back heading into September with 6 or 7 still remaining against Boston.

DHernandez reporting that Manny will waive no-trade even if he's not compensated....Scott Boras reporting his client should keep mouth shut
