kev211
So ready to see Manny dominate for the sox. He wants a contract so he's going to put up some numbers.
Steve9347
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) I'm holding out hope he looks more like this...
103 mph screwball
Manny should cut his hair for charity when he gets back to Chicago. A player can get a new start with the White Sox. I'll root for him and I'm happy the Sox took the shot. If he gives his best, I'll cheer. Even if he is wacky, it will be interesting to watch the Manny/Ozzie relationship. GO! SOX! The lineup can relax a bit and the hits will keep flowing. This is the turbo boost to pass the twins down the stretch. I guarantee one thing, Manny doesn't fear the twins or consider himself beaten before the game starts. I so freaking sick of the "boogieman" twins. Kick their bleeping ass! This move is more than adding a bat, it's a morale booster for a tired team. Manny can't date my sister, but I can't wait to watch him hit for the good guys. Kyyle23
So, in conclusion, Manny Ramirez is comparable to hitler because Jeff Passan thinks he is a bum and a turd.
Steve9347
QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) Let's carry this to its logical extreme, just as a mind exercise. I am absolutely not minimizing the horrors of the soon-to-be mentioned individual to the completely-trivial-in-comparison level of cheating or quitting in a sport-as-entertainment. I am absolutely not raising the cheating/quitting transgressions to any higher level than to use them as evidence of, or lack thereof, a certain moral fiber that I would like to see in the sporting events I choose to watch as entertainment. If Hitler could hit the ball like Babe Ruth, would you be in favor of him being the DH for the White Sox? For those who say they'd not, yet are in favor of Manny doing so, where is the line of differentiation? What the f***. BigSqwert
Out of curiosity, does anyone think there are Sox season ticket holders that are so against this move that they'd consider not getting tickets for next season? Or is it too late for something like that?
HuskyCaucasian
Bernstein and Rosner were talking to a listener about Manny and roids. Bernstein made a vialed reference to some guy who was "out of a job" and hanging out in Colorado Springs then came back to hit the second most amount of home runs in his career. Who is he referencing?

The Ginger Kid
I know it's not popular, but you can't blast Ozzie's decision too much. If this team were fighting for 3rd place with the tigers then that would be different, but with the team he wanted he's in a battle for 1st place and would probably be in 1st if it weren't for the collapse of the bullpen (nothing to do with Kotsay there). Could a better DH option than Kotsay have made a big difference? Yes, I would agree. But again, it's not like we're out of it.

He's there to manage ballgames, not assemble the roster.
BigSqwert
Per Cowley: As far as the dreads, KW said he talked to a coach on the staff and "from my understanding [Manny] will make an adjustment.''
TheBigHurt
Well... whatever happens, we are 4.5 back and yet now I'm still excited. We really can still do this, totally. Frank_Thomas
dylanohernandez Can the #WhiteSox get #Manny to do what Torre couldn't and convince him to cut his hair? Williams thinks so. 6 minutes ago dylanohernandez Williams said the #WhiteSox could have parted with prospects to get to #Dodgers to pay for part of #Manny's salary, but didn't want to. 7 minutes ago

greg775
As far as booing, I know my point is hypocritical, but I think Manny is a bad enough guy I could justify booing when he makes and out, just as I could justify booing Belle. Why? Manny has a track record of being an ass THIS SEASON. The Dodgers can't get rid of him fast enough. If anybody in baseball deserves booing based on quitting on his team again, it is Manny. Cheer him if he gets on base; boo his ass if he sucks.
