You are the King of Contradiction. What changed in those 24 minutes?

Why don't you read all my posts if you are going to judge my position on every topic.

I said all along I want him to lead us to wins. I said since he's a one-month rental we should use him for all we can in that regard. I may think he's a selfish bum and am not happy that he is allegedly a roider, but my position has been that I hope he leads us to the WS title.

I don't want the Sox to lose just because he's one bad apple of the large roster.

In near successive posts you said you didn't care if we win, and that you want a division title. It made no sense and you got called out on it. Anyone who could say "I don't care if we win" should turn in their card.

I never said I don't care if we win.

I said I don't care if Manny plays and that shouldn't matter to us beating a s*** team like Cleveland. I said if we can't beat Cleve. w/out Manny we don't deserve to win the division.

What are you talking about?

With the Sox, you never take any game for granted. It's not like Manny is assured of pulling a Rios and going 4-for-5 tonight. His stats this year, in fact, suck. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the lineup, but I could give a s*** if we win, anyway. It's not like his presence assures anything.

Did you mean that you didn't care if he doesn't play as long as we still win? The way you wrote it implies you don't care if they win or lose. If it's the former, then you conveyed your message incredibly poorly, and may keep your White Sox card!

Now I see where you are coming from. I conveyed the message in a bad sentence.

I said or meant I could give a s*** if he plays if we still win.

People on here can tell you I always want to win.

Those who seem to memorize my posts remember one season I was rooting for victories the last 2 weeks of the season when many wanted us to lose every game so we'd get a better draft pick.

That was pretty heated discussion as well.

I wanted to win every game even if it meant not getting as high a draft pick.

Subject of "Ramirez Slept Here" signs in Boston's outfield.

Suspended for performance enhancing drugs in 2009.

Purposefully thrown out of his last game as a Los Angeles Dodger.

Begged out of playing his first game for the Chicago White Sox because he was "too tired."

Flouted the owner's "neat and presentable hair" rule by tying back his dreadlocks in lieu of getting a haircut.

(the very same owner who is paying him roughly $4 million for 31...er, make that 30...games).

These aren't excuses. They're souvenirs.

Manny being Manny...It's black and white.

So as we are now required to cheer for the laundry that includes the number 99,, I make one last reply to this thread with this message to White Sox management: Do not hold the fans hostage over the resigning of Paul Konerko to a very fair, career-ending, long-term contract this off-season. If you can afford $4 million for a "diminished skills," diminished brain, ethically bankrupt Manny Ramirez, you can certainly pay the team captain what he's worth, particularly in light of the year he's having and the career he's had in Chicago. He is the White Sox' Derek Jeter and deserves to be rewarded as such.

Yea, because blindly signing Konerko to a longterm contract at 35 sounds really good to me. I love Konerko, but you have to be careful with the contract you offer him, even 3 years is incredibly risky.

And dont compare to Jeter, Jeter isnt worth close to what he is getting, and the Yankees are resigning him to that because they can. If Jeter falls apart after a contract extension, the Yankees can afford that. The Sox, it would be much harder for them to recover.

On the topic of Manny, he is an instant boost to our playoff chances, Ill gladly take that risk of him being a team nuisance because if he is as good as he has been, we are talking about playoffs, if he doesnt play well and or is a distraction, hes gone at the end of the year.

Yep, cause the only thing that matters in baseball is if you have good guys on your roster. I know I don't want actual good players, just good all around guys that'd I'd love to have a beer with.

I love me some PK, but signing him longer than 2 years would be a bad bad move.

Hell, I'd love to have a beer with Manny much more than Kotsay or Teahen.

Great post.

This signing proves the Sox do have money and Paulie should get a nice 2 year contract IMO.

s***, this may sound dumb, but Paulie's defense is so good even if he suddenly started to suck as a hitter he wouldn't be a complete washout.

The man can field.

Watching him scoop the ball is a thing of beauty. He's also pretty damn good on grounders and liners.

Pay Paulie!!

Konerko's range has been pretty bad this year and even though he is pretty good at scooping bad throws, a lot of 1B are. Without his bat, Konerko wouldn't be a very valuable 1B.

Thank you!! If you want a good 1B that can't hit, you can get Kotchman for 1/10th of the contract Konerko will get.

You guys don't think Konerko can hit for 2 more season??

You have that little confidence in a guy having an incredible season?? I was saying "If" he didn't hit he wouldn't be a complete washout cause the guy can field. I cant imagine him suddenly sucking at the plate next year.

I don't considering the condition of his hip.

I'm assuming you want to sign him for a reasonable contract?

I can't imagine any Sox fan wanting him to go away after his career, and particularly this season.

He ain't finished yet.

Tell me, you said he won't for two seasons?

Do you think he can repeat this season or have similar numbers? If so, why would you want this all time Sox great to leave? Don't get it.

jesus this is tiresome. are you serious? even if paulie wasn't a decent defensive first baseman, which he is, hitting is 90% of the job of a 1b.

He may not be finished, but with his age and hip he is a HUGE risk to fall off big time in the next year or two, so to sign him to a 2 or 3 year contract is VERY risky.

Just look at AJ, who has been healthy, but that one extra year on his body has slowed him tremendously, even though he just had one of his best offensive years just last year.

So offering Konerko a 2yr/20 mill contract is EXTREMELY risky.

This. I don't like power hitters with hip conditions. I also don't think he will come close to this year's numbers. JMO.

So would you do it?

I would. 2 years 14 million.

Nobody will offer him more than that.

Wouldn't that be fair to both parties?

I mean if you don't want him, who do you want at first? Viciedo/Teahen platoon? Paulie makes more sense than that.

Depends on what KW does with the rest of the team.

YOu have to look at it not only is it fair for both sides, but what is Konerko going to be asking? It will be his last big contract most likely.

Plus, you have to look at the team needs. If we believe Viciedo can step in at 1b, but have pressing issues in the bullpen and catcher, along with DH, do we even have the money to bring back Konerko along with having viable replacements at those positions. Or if we dont, is it worth trading Danks and/or Quentin to help with salary relief?
