hi8is
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) can we safely say nothing will happen by the deadline? absolutely not.
iamshack
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) Well, they've got 90 minutes to decide their finances. They've got to decide what the fan reaction is going to be, then try to decide what other offers they might want to take advantage of by unloading some of Manny's salary, etc. It's a pretty tough decision for them. Marty34
How motivated is Manny going to be if he has to go back to the Dodgers knowing they tried to trade him? My guess the Dodgers know they have to deal him for this reason. Sox or Rays.

Frank_Thomas
That's a lot of time. It is CLEAR Kenny wants a bat, IMO we will be acquring a bat before 3. He will make 2 last minute calls: 2:49- KW: Mike it's Kw you ready to move Dunn. Chose your pick of 4 or 5 prospects plus Santos. Or EJax+ one or two spects. Hopefuly his price would be down by then. I'm sure KW hasn't even called Rizzo today has him sweating over no calls and Manny rumors. If he says no.... 2:56- KW calls LA and offers Flowers+Morel or pitching for Manny and his salary. A last minute call to Rizzo doesn't give us an opportunity to deal for another starter if EJax is dealt.

My guess the Dodgers know they have to deal him for this reason. Sox or Rays. There are a few reports, one or two linked in this thread, that the Dodgers did not shop and are not shopping him, the White Sox called them and then a few other teams did, I have no doubt the LAD are pushing it out there that they did not try and shop him, but also, he is playing for a contract when he comes back. WCSox
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) Andruw Jones is nowhere close to the hitter ManRam is! Not now or the last three years. And ManRoids is worthless defensively and a terrible clubhouse guy. Oh, and he's had like 60 at-bats this year. We could certainly use an upgrade at DH, but the rest of our lineup hasn't exactly been sucking over the past 7 weeks. And if Manny's on the DL, he's not going to help out much anyway. SoxFan562004
There's also the waiver process, I don't see KW pulling a panic move at 2:

hi8is
12:36pm: The Angels also asked about Manny, tweets Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times. I wonder how recently that happened.
Jordan4life_2007
This thread proves one thing: Nobody cares about steroid users aka 'cheaters' as long as they play for your team (outside of Balta). I really don't want Manny.

KW checked on Brett Meyers late last night to pobably check the price (Wandy Rodriquez is also available). Rock Haun would be on the ready to call the stros to add a pitcher last minute. Cowley is a joke, he is taking credit for this when he was on the radio saying the name was not Manny. Heyman say sox still interested. LAA and TB also in on Manny. Viciedo will not be in deal. Brown- sox interested. If nothing else this sets up a deal in August. LA kinda wants to move him but are still in it at this point.
SoxFan562004
the Angels scouts must be convinced Texas is do for a big swoon because they are 8 out with little shot at the WC and they are being aggressive as hell... I wonder if on Angelstalk.com their org is getting hits for trying to go for it?
