ThunderBolt
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Rays and White Sox going for the same things That's a battle that the Rays have an advantage in. We just have to hope that our assets fit their needs a little better. Edited July 31, 2010 by Thunderbolt
caulfield12
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) We lost Cubano for Chapman, i don't know if we can afford to lose Bren for Manny. If Viciedo plays regularly for the rest of the season (which will never happen), he'll be back. By the way, what happened to kennyhatesprospects? justBLAZE
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) That's a battle that the Rays usually win. Perfect scneario would be Rays get Manny, all the manny talk has Rizzo lower the price and we get Dunn.
Frank_Thomas
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) LOL this would be awesome. I dont think Ozzie would care too much, I think him and ManRam are friends Ozzie would love to manage Manny and would love to show he could manage manny. Knackattack
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) That's a battle that the Rays have an advantage in. We just have to hope that our assets fit their needs a little better. Not necessarily in the Manny case, the Sox have the ability to take on more cash if JR really gets serious. hi8is
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) By the way, what happened to kennyhatesprospects? Became a nun and devoted to a life of celibacy?
caulfield12
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) That's a battle that the Rays have an advantage in. We just have to hope that our assets fit their needs a little better. But a monetary battle? The McCourts needs cash more than they need top prospects, those aren't exactly liquid assets. The Rays were already burned by Burrell and you have to think Ramirez would much rather play in Chicago...although the Rays obviously have a great chance at the postseason. What are Ramirez's stat lines at USCF and in Tampa?
Frank_Thomas
Rays will not get manny they said they were out on Dunn for defensive reasons and will not bring mannys ego to that homegrown team
fathom
I'd rather have Viciedo than Manny for the remainder of this season.

ThunderBolt
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) I'd rather have Viciedo than Manny for the remainder of this season. And on into the future.
chw42
The Sox have a huge advantage over the Rays for Manny. We have money, they don't. The Dodgers can really care less for prospects if they have to pick salary up.
Balta1701
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) What are Ramirez's stat lines at USCF and in Tampa? Those are going to be dominated by the crappiness of the Rays's pitching for the better part of his time in Boston. .333 average, 1.049 OPS at the Cell. .299, 1.003 OPS at the Trop. Knackattack
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 08:38 AM) I'd rather have Viciedo than Manny for the remainder of this season. Can't agree with you there. Viciedo is nice but this is Manny f***ing Ramirez. Not saying I'd trade the Tank for him, but if its Manny Ramirez as your DH or Dayan Viciedo I think the answer is clearly Manny. And what's the deal with Manny? He on the DL right now? Why the hell would we even want him so we could platoon him with Kotsay? Ugh. I'll pass. Frank_Thomas
Not to mention a Manny to TB would basically signal an end to Pena and Crawford next season if they took on mannys contract
