AWhiteSoxinNJ
Brad Hawpe will be released by the Rockies after tonights game. Braves had interest when he was on waivers before they got D. Lee. Heard Hawpe may go to Texas.
Balta1701
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Eh, at this point I am waiting to see what happens in this series before I add anyone if I am Kenny. If they go down six to Minnesota, there is zero chance I add anyone. It's time to start teasing on selling guys.

LittleHurt05
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) AJ? You think anyone would want him? The question is would AJ want to go anywhere?? His 10-5 clause kicked in this year. Other than Tampa, which would bring him close to him, I could see him saying no to any other trades. Balta1701
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 08:50 AM) AJ? You think anyone would want him? This late in the season and with AJ's "reputation", I seriously doubt it...he's probably cleared waivers already, and most teams in the hunt aren't going to want to flip catchers in September. witesoxfan
I don't know why any team would want AJ Pierzynski. Among catchers qualified for the batting title (there are only 10), he has the second worst OPS of the group, ahead of only Jason Kendall. There are a few who are splitting duties that have been worse than him, but really, does any team want a player who has put up a .631 OPS this year, regardless of what position he plays? Leonard Zelig
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 07:54 AM) This late in the season and with AJ's "reputation", I seriously doubt it...he's probably cleared waivers already, and most teams in the hunt aren't going to want to flip catchers in September. Is AJ's "reputation" is really an issue to teams or is it more of a fan thing?

I would say its a fan thing... because if Milton Bradley can keep finding teams who want him, AJ would have no problem...

How often does our team use chemistry as an excuse? Yes, it's an issue. It might not be an issue if he was hitting .325 this season, but it's an issue. BigSqwert
Hasn't it been well known that AJ has been a great clubhouse guy for us for the last 5 years?
Balta1701
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) Hasn't it been well known that AJ has been a great clubhouse guy for us for the last 5 years? Depends on how you define "Great clubhouse guy". There have still been some rants that people thought wound up directed at AJ...example, there was that one day last year where the team lost a game and Ozzie was furious about someone having turned all the TV's in the locker room to some college football game and a lot of people thought that it was AJ... Look at the quotes from both Tyler Flowers and Donny Lucy over the past couple years about their interactions with AJ. I remember both of them, in different articles, were asked about their relationship with AJ. Both answered with some variant of "um, well, he's AJ". justBLAZE
I know some of you already gave up on a season but I highly doubt Kenny starts 'teasing' about selling guys. 4GB with 6 solid weeks of play. No way. EDIT: of course a lot can change in the next 10 days or so, if we tank completely I could see some trades done before the waiver deadline. BigSqwert
Still don't know why there is no interest in Laroche. He's having a great 2nd half like he always does. He'd be a perfect left-handed DH to rotate with Carlos and Jones and can spell Paulie at 1st. What am I missing here? Just compare him to what Rios has done in the 2nd half. Laroche: 8 HR 22 RBI .317/.360/.579/.940 Rios: 2 HR 19 RBI .264/.290/.349/.639 It's pretty obvious he could give us a boost and we could finally remove Kotsay from this roster. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 20, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) It's such a logical and obvious upgrade. Its possible they asked about him, and the price was too high. But since he cleared waivers, that seems unlikely. I'm not sure what the reason would be to NOT go get him, since he'd be such a massive upgrade over Kotsay.
