iamshack
I wish they would have started Torres for the first game and then promoted Sale for the second game. The order they are doing this in is silly.

RockRaines
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 11:14 AM) I'm by no means an expert on our minor league players so can someone chime in and give us some perspective on how Sale compares to recent pitching hopefuls? Can he be the real deal? Umm. Hard to compare him to anyone. Maybe Poreda with better control and more pitches? He's fairly polished already. fathom
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) I don't believe anyone has seen enough of him to actually give a valid opinion. Keith Law has, and he said he sucks

Mark can drink during the game he starts, for all I care. I just don't understand why you'd limit your roster for game 1 if you didn't have to. TheChrisSamsa
They're probably hoping Mark will give them more innings than Torres, leaving the pen fresh for game 2 when they're more likely to be used.

Balta1701
QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) very good control. The 6 BB in 10 minor league innings are something of a concern there, but it's so early...

He walked 14 in 103 IP this year for Florida Gulf Coast. 9 in 55 IP in the Cape last summer. Of course, he's now relieving against AAA hitters. I wouldn't worry about it yet. If he's now going to be facing big league hitters...in terms of him being effective this year, yeah it's a worry. Long term development is different. Long term development is different. Fair, but I would need to see him a few times to figure out why he's walking guys. Are high level pro hitters not biting on the junk, is he nibbling or is he just struggling with being ready when he comes out of the pen? ChiliIrishHammock24
Comcast Sports Net reported tonight that Sale was promoted, and Torres was sent down, but I have yet to see any mention of it here.... ??? Maybe it just hasn't been announced officially yet. But hell of a game to see tomorrow if EJax and Sale make their debuts on the same night.
