RudyLawRules
Per Olney... Buster_ESPN: Heard this: Adam Dunn hit the waiver wire today, giving teams 48 hours to place claims on the slugger -- and the wide expectation is that multiple NL teams will put in a claim on him -- Rockies? Giants? -- and that there is no chance that AL teams like the Rays or White Sox or Yankees ever get a shot at Dunn, who is working on his seventh straight year of 38 or more homers. 4 minutes ago via web Retweet Mods feel free to put in another thread. BigSqwert
Who needs him when you have Pierre going yard from the left side?
justBLAZE
Olney just said Rays, Yankees or White Sox have no chance at him because bunch of NL teams will claim him. If he gets moved we will know in the next 72 hours.

RudyLawRules
So let's say he gets claimed, the Nats will either pull him back or make a lesser deal than they could've made with KW. Does that make any sense? Does Rizoo actually think he'll get some lopsided trade or is he just kicking the tires? Stay tuned...

Does that make any sense? Does Rizoo actually think he'll get some lopsided trade or is he just kicking the tires? Stay tuned... He's kicking the tires. He had to put Dunn on Waivers to see if someone might get a bit desperate and give him the lopsided deal, and it makes sense to do so sooner rather than later when teams that might race in with a huge bid are out of the race. Soxbadger
Or hes just putting him on waivers in case he does get through and then he can try and negotiate for another 30 days.

Does that make any sense? Does Rizoo actually think he'll get some lopsided trade or is he just kicking the tires? Stay tuned... there's really no harm in putting him on waivers and the upside is the NL team that claims him decides they can't live without him and give up something Rizzo really wants. Kyyle23
Rizzo will put him on waivers and demand the best prospect still. Nothing has changed here

whitesoxfan101
They're putting him on waivers because basically everybody gets put on waivers. I wouldn't read too much into it, he won't be moved unless somebody offers a ridiculous deal. And if that didn't happen pre deadline, why would it now? Quin
I want to hit Rizzo. He's not going to get anything close to offers he got before the deadline.
southsider2k5
The key is to watch the names that go on waivers at the same time as Dunn. Those are the names that might get dealt.

He's not going to get anything close to offers he got before the deadline. I know it'll never happen, but wouldn't it be sweet if Washington ended up putting Dunn on waivers and losing him for nothing because of some administrative error like not pulling him back in time or something like that? Kyyle23
Say the impossible happened and Dunn fell all the way to the Sox and they claimed him, wouldnt they still have to make a deal with Rizzo? If I am not mistaken(and please someone correct me if I am wrong, and I probably am ), Rizzo can let the team that claimed him have Dunn for no compensation, work out a deal with the team that claimed him for players/prospects, or pull him back from waivers. So if I am right and that is the case, there really is nothing to get excited about because Rizzo will still be asking for the moon and KW will still be telling him to take a long walk off a short pier. Yes. Or, if no one claims him, then the negotiating goes back to the exact process that was going on before the waiver deadline.

If a player is on the 40 man roster, he has to clear waivers in order to be traded, so Washington would be even more limited in who they could get back from the Sox.
