macsandz
I'd like Brad Hawpe. He was an All Star last year, but the guy is in a down year because of injuries. He's a nice lefty bat with power and a quality career OBP. He's playing 1B these days and if he brings a glove, he should stay there and not go near the OF. He's collecting $7.5M this year which should also allow for him to clear waivers. For 2011 there is a $10M Team Option, with a $500k Buyout. I know Kenny was in discussions with COL about him recently, but the Rox wanted to hang on to him as Helton wasn't back yet and they are fighting for their lives. He's picking up the production lately as he's finally healthy: Last 7 days: .294/.400/.765/1.
chw42
Brad Hawpe outside of Coors is extremely ordinary.
chetkincaid
Listening to Boers and Bernstein on the Score, it really looks like Manny Ramirez is a big possibility. It seems like Kenny is just sitting back waiting to pounce.
daggins
It seem like its most of the second tier guys discussed before the deadline (Scott, LaRoche, Hawpe) plus Manny. He isn't waiver wire but I wonder when Carlos Delgado will be back? Haven't seen much about him lately (haven't looked).

macsandz
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) Brad Hawpe outside of Coors is extremely ordinary. Balta1701
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) What NL team would want Manny? The Giants. Maybe the Phils with the body count they're wracking up. The Braves if they thought they could put someone's glove in CF out of the guys they have. MattZakrowski
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) Or any of the other teams with a remote/legit shot at the playoffs (the Angels, the Twins, maybe the Tigers). The Angels and Tigers should lose hope any moment now, and MIN has enough power hitters who really can't play the field, so they'd be making a claim as a block mostly IMO (not that it couldn't happen). chw42
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Last 3 full seasons on the road: .278 .376 .486 .862 Much better than ordinary. I don't know if Hawpe is the same hitter he was a couple of years ago. I used to really like the idea of him DHing for this team, but now I'm pretty eh. GREEDY
Hawpe is a bad defender. ManRam is a bad defender. I really want someone that can play RF so TCQ can DH.
YonderLaroche
I have a feeling Manny will be in a Sox uniform the day he returns from DL... LA is almost 10 games back. Sox need him for World Series run and they ESPN might actually acknowledge the Sox with Manny.. not too mention attendence, merchandise, etc, it makes too much sense to get him. GREEDY
QUOTE (GREEDY @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) Hitter. Outside of Vernon Wells he appears to be the only plus defensive outfielder that might have a chance at clearing waivers.
SoxAce
QUOTE (GREEDY @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) Hitter. Not a chance he clears. Not sure what his contract is, but unless he is really overpaid, someone will claim him. Too much talent.
ILMOU
I don't really want Brad Hawpe. Watch him every day here in CO. Not much upgrade, if any, vs. a Teahen/Tank platoon, and an awful fielder to boot. Glaring ineptitude in the field for the Rockies tonight.
