chetkincaid
I wonder if there's anything left? He's a lefty power bat that could be had for almost nothing.
Jordan4life_2007
Are we that desperate? I doubt he'd even be an upgrade from Kotsay. Edited August 3, 2010 by Jordan4life
Dick Allen
Hasn't played all year. Hip operated on twice since last major league AB. If he signed a minor league deal and went to Charlotte to get ready, I suppose it wouldn't hurt, but expecting anything out of him is a reach. 103 mph screwball
If I remember correctly, he's turned down a trade to the Sox in the past. KW always gets his player eventually.

witesoxfan
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) If I remember correctly, he's turned down a trade to the Sox in the past. KW always gets his player eventually. I don't recall exactly when it was, but I do recall that the Sox were well out of the playoff picture when he turned the trade down. I'm pretty sure it was late in 2004 after the wheels had fallen completely off the bus.
chetkincaid
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) I don't recall exactly when it was, but I do recall that the Sox were well out of the playoff picture when he turned the trade down. I'm pretty sure it was late in 2004 after the wheels had fallen completely off the bus. Well it's not like he has 30 MLB teams vying for his services this time around. I bet he'd be ecstatic if the Sox offered him a minor league deal right now.
BigSqwert
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) I wonder if there's anything left? He's a lefty power bat that could be had for almost nothing. There's a reason he could be had for pretty much nothing.

Balta1701
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 08:59 AM) Rosenthal saying we are interested in Delgado. Why?! Because even if he's only operating on 1 hip, he's still not worse than Kotsay.

BigSqwert
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:06 AM) If it means getting rid of Kotsay, yes. At this point in his career I'd expect Kotsay-like numbers.

chetkincaid
I heard on Mulley and Hanley this morning that Delgado not only wants to play for a contending team, but he wants guaranteed playing time too.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) he wants guaranteed playing time too. I'm not sure how you guarantee playing time to a guy who might not be able to swing a bat any more.
chisox2334
fine with me, take over kotsay as soon as you can:)

beck72
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) I heard on Mulley and Hanley this morning that Delgado not only wants to play for a contending team, but he wants guaranteed playing time too. He'd be lucky to play for a team that's out of it, let alone a contender. He's got to show he can hit in the minors and is ready before a team will or should commit to him.
