LittleHurt05
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) Two gut wrenching losses in a row. They've scored 6 runs the last two nights, and they lost both games by 1 run. It's probably time they try to score 8 runs instead of 6. That's the worst part. The offense is scoring runs, both members of the awful DH platoon hit big homers (yes, I realize who hit the biggest one Tuesday), but it hasn't been enough. I hope MB can turn it up today, I have a feeling Sox don't get more than 3 vs. the porn stache, hope I'm wrong.

Swingandalongonetoleft
I keep telling myself that this is Pavano and that he shouldn't be shutting us down. I had nothing but bad feelings going into the first two. I feel better about going into this one. It might just be that my worries were realized in games one and two and the damage done won't be forgotten even with a win here, or it might be that every once in a while even the Pirates and Orioles win a game, and this team is due. PorkChopExpress
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) For once can we put up a nice lead right out of the box instead of playing catchup after the 1st or 2nd inning? Seriously. Remember when the Sox used to score first? It just sets the tone for the game. Let's put up a five spot on Pavano in the first and never look back. qwerty
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) Indeed. Why does he have to suck so badly on the road? It's depressing. Also his ops is 1.067 in wins and a measly .573 in losses.

Rowand44
I got a feeling the Sox will win this game to drag us along for the ride for a little while longer only to break our hearts some time later next month.
Real
I still stand by my accusation of the twins somehow stealing our pitching signs, Mauer is already known for doing it when he's on 2B. Either way, stealing signs or not, twins getting out the brooms tonight
Balta1701
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) Wow. With splits like that, maybe he should be in the MVP discussion. I think it works out for a lot of players like that. Just checked Hamilton for example: wins, OPS = 1.229, losses, OPS = .767.
witesoxfan
Yeah, that's a pretty common phenomenon. Players usually perform better when they're winning, and perform worse when they're losing. It's not rocket science.
greg775
It amazes me the Twins never have a letdown against us. You'd think at some point they are the super heavy favorites in any meeting with the Sox and let down. I don't see it happening. Twins roll tonight to complete an amazing 8-2 run against us and our bizarre season is all but over at 6 back.

We barely won it in the Cell. But I'll take it.

White Sox team splits in wins - .300/.359/.501/.860 White Sox team splits in losses - .221/.292/.333/.625 if that isn't enough MLB team splits in wins - .295/.367/.482/.848 MLB team splits in losses - .222/.286/.328/.613 You can argue the cause and effect if you want, but generally when teams hit, they win, and when they don't, they lose. greg775
We should all give our predictions every night. That way later we can get praised or blasted. Mine: Minnesota 11, Chicago 3. Not sure what I'll predict for the KC series. That's a series we should really truly should win, if not sweep.
