winninguglyin83
Can't believe Flowers will go to AFL. What's the point? He starred there two years ago when Sox traded for him. He's spent all year at AAA. Winter ball makes more sense for Flowers. If Sale keeps throwing stressful innings in a pennant race, no reason to tax him in the AFL. Little to gain, lots to lose. Thompson still pretty raw for AFL. Mitchell definitely needs to go. Maybe Phegley or Short or Justin Greene. Morel won the batting title there last year. He needs to get his shoulder right so he can make his move into Chicago next season -- allowing us to save salary by trading Teahen.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (NHDadUmp-RI @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) I forgot I heard Mitchell too. Awesome. That means his rehab must be going well, which might be the best news of all in our minors right now.
SoxAce
QUOTE (NHDadUmp-RI @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) Phegley,Infante, Carter, Mitchell, and 1 other. Makes sense. Sox love both their arms.
scenario
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) Can't believe Flowers will go to AFL. What's the point? The AFL isn't just for development. When you go to AFL games they are loaded with scouts. Some days it seems more scouts than fans. So, teams use it to evaluate specific players, make decisions about them, show case them for trades, etc.
danman31
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) If Sale keeps throwing stressful innings in a pennant race, no reason to tax him in the AFL. Little to gain, lots to lose. There's a lot to gain. He needs to be stretched out as a starter. If all goes well he will be competing for a spot in the rotation next spring.
