OilCan
Looks like it. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/101531208.html A report surfaced saying the Chicago White Sox had claimed Brewers reliever Trevor Hoffman off waivers. The Sox have had injuries in their bullpen, but Hoffman said general manager Doug Melvin had not approached him about a possible trade. Hoffman has a no-trade clause to all but five teams, believed to be out west. He lives in Del Mar, Calif.

Brian
Sounded like Milwaukee wants him to get 600 with them pretty bad.
Cerbaho-WG
Well, Hoffman can aim for 600 or get a shot at a WS title. He'll probably retire at the end of the year.
EvilJester99
On Holmes show someone called in and said Hoffman refused the deal... Holmes also said the Sox supposedly claimed Villanueva as well.
ChiliIrishHammock24
I am pretty surprised MLBTR has not picked up on that. Hoffman is pretty big name.
EvilJester99
White Sox GM Kenny Williams hinted that his club may be pursuing a lower-profile waiver wire target than Manny Ramirez, reports MLB.com's Scott Merkin. This target, however, is apparently not Trevor Hoffman. Doug Padilla of ESPNChicago.com writes that Williams denied a report saying that the Sox put in a claim on Hoffman, but were unable to work out a trade with the Brewers. chw42
I'm glad this didn't happen. Hoffman's been really bad this year.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) I'm glad this didn't happen. Hoffman's been really bad this year. He's been pretty good in his last 25 games though. 2.63 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, good K rate and control, but, as you mentioned, he's been terrible this year, and I'm not sure that I'd want to trust him in the AL. southsider2k5
Our choices right now are guys like Threets and Harrell. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Trevor.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Our choices right now are guys like Threets and Harrell. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on Trevor. He wouldn't be a horrid pick up, but he isn't exactly cheap.

ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) Linebrink + Hoffmen!!! Lets get the band back together Linebrink, Hoffman, and Peavy will form our Padre Trio. And Manny, Pierre, and Jones will form our Dodgers Trio. And Pena, Quentin, and Jackson make our Dbacks Trio. Vizquel, AJ, and Threets make up our Giants Trio. All we need is 3 Rockies players to make a monopoly on the NL West! southsider2k5
According to the Trib, Hoffman cleared waivers, but no one is trying to get him from Milwaukee.
