He has ten wins and has often gone 6 or 7 good innings for us. The ERA jumps when he or any pitcher has a bad game or two and gives up a lot of runs in just a couple innings. That has not happened to Freddie on any consistent basis so overall he has done a commendable job.

Freddy is the kind of guy the yanks destroy like they do to MB. I expect nothing out of him tonight and hope Danks and Floyd bring their A game the rest ofthe weekend. 4.5 out Monday morning and I am fine.

Really, we're past the point in the season where we can be fine with losing ground, no matter who we're playing.

They need to beat he Indians while the Twins are playing the Rangers that is where they need to make up games. 4.5 Monday is doable....I would hope for 3.5 but the M's are terrible and he Twins miss Hernanadez. I expect nothing other than a Twins sweep and it is unrealistic to think the Sox will sweep the Yanks...the only hope is the M's defense can take away the dinks and dunks and that the M's can hit the ball. You can be disappointed that they can win two this weekend and lose ground but I will be fine with it.

Like it or not, the Sox have already blown their chance to think that it's ok to lose ground against the Twins when we're playing good teams. If they wanted to be in positions where they didn't need to sweep the Yankees, then they should have beaten the Twins. Or the Indians. Or the Orioles. Whoever.

I agree that the bad losses hurt and may have really hampered the divisional hopes but if you think they are going to win every game the rest of the way I can assure you they will not but I will remain interested in how it all plays out even they lose one game of ground this weekend.

They're not going to win every game...but they have to play like they have zero margin for error. If they take 2/3 from teams, fine...but then they're basically counting on the Twins not taking 2/3 or better over the same stretch.

It's not an enviable place to be.

Take it series-by-series. This past series, the Sox picked up 1.5, which is what we all hoped (pretty much) since we played the O's while MIN was in Texas. This series, I'd be happy if the Sox just kept pace with the Twins somehow. Don't really care how.

Why was the game thread so short? I know people weren't at the game looking at the crowd :(

Anyway great team win, Jax = STUD.

The game threads usually are short unless there's a big fight going on in there. Many have given up on the fighting.

Thome did his damage. Now Swisher will be trying to time Freddy's slow pitches and wreak similar havoc. Might be wise to set a tone for the series and plunk him on his first at bat. With Minnie sweeping Seattle, this could be the season right here. Lose 2 games to the Twins this weekend will not be good.
