Oz "I don't want him to think if he goes 0 for 4 he's going to die."

What the hell is going on here. He doesn't want him to think he is going to die? In what regard?

Either ozzie guillen is scared that the fans would lash out towards ramirez if he didn't reach base in a game, and that ramirez is too weak mentally to handle it. Or it's simply he is just afraid that ramirez would be too weak mentally to handle not reaching base and it would carry over for the rest of the season?

Clearly neither is logical.

The money aspect definitely angers me. But the bigger, more valid point, is the fact that ramirez reaches base 2 out of every 5 times to the plate, which is something we could desperately use at this point. Not only does he just reach, but he does so with authority. We need every base reached, hit, run, and win potentially possible at this point in time. The sox are not 4 games up, or tied, they are four huge games back. Making up 4 games in 31 games against tough competition is even harder than it looks to the naked eye. The optimist in people might make it look easily attainable, but i guarantee you otherwise. No need to throw a game to wayside with the mentality that they will go get em' the next day, and that everything will be alright on this given day.

At least we know for a fact that people have never slept on a plane during their flight, nor has anyone ever taken a nap once off of a plane while they had time to kill before they had something to do. Never ever.

It doesnt matter what other players do. It doesnt matter if 99% of the MLB players would have played tonight, it matters what Manny wanted and what Ozzie wanted.

Many times with a trade like this, the player arrives at the park but only is there for PH. This is not out of the ordinary, this is not Manny being there last night and refusing to play today.

Im not about to freak out over Manny not playing tonight. Id rather that Manny felt that he is welcomed by the Sox and that they actually care about how he feels. Maybe it wont mean dick, but thats how I feel.

I cant say whether or not Id be ready to play after getting on a 6am flight. My guess is that I wouldnt feel 100% but if the team really wanted me to play, id do it. But if the team asked if Id rather sit out and be ready for tomorrow, Id say whatever is best for the team.

If you want to blame some one, blame the Dodgers for dragging it out and not letting the claim go through before the Yankees series. That would have made a difference. Manny missing today and being ready tomorrow probably wont change the world.

manny told ozzie wherever you need me whatever you need basically (not an exact quote) so ozzie decides to bench him....HA

Where is the sense of urgency this late in the season? We're already missing one of our hottest hitters of the 2nd half tonight.

It kills me how in the message board world, nobody can believe that Ozzie in all his years of baseball is capable of making a right decision on this.

You think maybe he's been around the game long enough to make an educated call on whether Manny should play tonight?

You think maybe he knows his team and after talking to Manny, just might be capable of making the right decision?

Are you guys right about everything and Ozzie wrong about every matter you disagree with him on?

Wow.

Ozzie makes plenty of very stupid decisions. He is not infallible and there's no reason to assume he made a correct call, especially given the style of baseball he wanted to play and the players he wanted. He didn't want a Manny or a Thome or a Dunn. He wanted Kotsay.
