Balta1701
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) I dont digest wheat nearly as well as animal protein. I believe that's true for most people...and for most people it's actually sort of a good thing.
BigSqwert
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) I dont digest wheat nearly as well as animal protein. Substitute the wheat with something else like corn. A steak sits in your stomach for hours so I'm not sure how you would consider that easily digestible. RockRaines
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) Substitute the wheat with something else like corn. A steak sits in your stomach for hours so I'm not sure how you would consider that easily digestible. Lean protein like chicken and fish are what I eat most. I have to stay away from Gluten for the most part as much as I can. Edited August 31, 2010 by RockRaines
Milkman delivers
With all of these pro and con arguments going on, allow me to voice a third side. I don't give a s***. I understand the implications of all of the negative things that people do, but I don't care what happens after I'm gone. People are self-destructive (basically destructive of everything), and we're not going to change. Take that, ethics!
caulfield12
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) Can I ask what's the difference between people killing a dolphin for food and a pig for food? 1) Dolphins are seen as "cleaner" animals because of their water habit, and the friendliest/most intelligent because of their performances at places like SEA WORLD 2) The Miami Dolphins, there's no professional or collegiate team with the moniker "PIGS" I am sure, anywhere in the world 3) Dolphins are beautiful to watch in their natural habit, and among the fastest and most streamlined/aerodynamic animals 4) There are no world religions that consider eating dolphin to be unclean or unkosher...kind of a reverse argument on its face, but it supports the overall point, since nobody around the world really loves to eat dolphin in the first place unless there's no choice 5) People have been conditioned to eating pig meat for centuries

caulfield12
Chops is promoting a pig "food product," not pigs themselves. Maybe if when the movie BABE came out, a team changed to that name, but then it'd still be the Babe Ruth connection there, too. And Razorbacks are close, but it's still not the same thing close, because they're "fierce" animals, not unlike wolverines...Warthogs is another name I thought of, Winston Salem's minor league team. Still not PIGS, lol.

iamshack
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) If my government were sitting here feeding me stuff that is poisoned, I'd be irate. Heck, people are already irate as to the issues that have been going on with all of the food related illnesses that are happening and how poorly the FDA is controlling and ultimately preventing these problems from happening. Would you? Why do you think it is that the incidence of heart failure and other chronic disease is so great here?

iamshack
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) Or not: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_China_Study#Criticisms The China Study definitely has some fair criticisms to be made from it, but the bottom line is, there is an almost direct correlation between entering the Western diet into a culture and increased rates of many chronic diseases, the most popular of which is heart disease. The same correlation exists when one removes the Western diet from a culture. The rates of many chronic diseases, including heart disease, decrease significantly. It's certainly not a mystery.
