If they keep up this pace and wind up with nearly 100 wins, we might well just have to tip our caps.

NorthSideSox72
MIN has got to cool off at some point. They are like a plane that lost a significant amount of its engine power but is somehow still flying. I just hope it happens real damn soon. This on paper should be a big Sox win. Just need KC to avoid getting swept for f***s sake.

LittleHurt05
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) If they keep up this pace and wind up with nearly 100 wins, we might well just have to tip our caps. This. Since the All-Star Break, they have 3 different stretches with records of 10-1, 11-2, & 10-2 (right now). There's not much you can do when a team plays that well down the stretch. Only the 11-2 record consisted of head to head games vs the Sox too. (4-2 Twins) Edited September 8, 2010 by LittleHurt05
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (SnB @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) we don't gain a game tonight, that could be it. If we can win these last couple in DET and go home, the team has 16 of 22 games left at home, including 3 against MIN, and generally bad teams otherwise (except BOS). That puts the Sox in a pretty good position to win a bunch of games. We just need MIN, or maybe TB, to lose some.

They beat up on the division unlike us. We're not catching them. End of story.

LOL, yes, 4.5 games back with 24 left and 3 against is "end of story". They may be a better team, and chances are good we won't catch them, no one is saying otherwise. But these posts saying "its over" are hilarious.

The Twins won the division one year ago when they were 3 games back with 4 to play but we're supposed to pack it in with 24 games left? Pretty damn impressive. They beat up on the division unlike us. We're not catching them. End of story. I agree that the Twins are a better team. But, it's far from over. A four game slide by the Twins (which is not out of the realm of possibility) along with a 3-1 or 4-0 run by the Sox anytime over the next two weeks changes things a lot. A win by the Sox tonight and loss by the Twins changes things. It's not over until either the Twins or the Sox eliminate the other team. Like someone pointed out, there's 24 games left and the Twins magic number is 20. Let's watch for a while and see what happens.
