Like it or not...he's a significant upgrade. He's not a $4 million a year upgrade so feel free to complain about that contract...but he's a much better option than Kotsay.

That's an expensive utility player. My first thought is that Kenny would look to deal him, but I don't see that happening without eating some of that contract... in which case, they may as well just hang onto him.

I'd rather have Teahen than Kotsay but Kotsay has a better approach at the plate. He's just too old and has lost whatever talent he once had to do anything with his approach. Teahen continues to be a guy who thinks he is a power hitter (big swing, tons of strikeouts) when he should be a line drive hitter.

Kotsay has given you the impression that he has a better approach at the plate? Kotsay has been much more of a fly ball hitter when he makes contact than Teahen this year. 40% of Kotsay's batted balls are fly balls, 30% of Teahen's are. Teahen hits more ground balls than Kotsay and more line drives. Their career numbers bear out the same trend. Beyond that, Teahen's approach takes a lot more walks than Kotsay's, which is a good thing.

That Cubs job has gotten the best of many better managers than Ozzie. Ozzie would crash and burn within three years of taking that job.

Anyway, Ozzie is still under contract to the Sox next year so he should keep his big stupid mouth shut. I really wish the Sox would fire his ass already.

If I'm KW, immediately after this season ends I would call him in my office and remind him that he is under contract for next year and the team holds an option for 2012. I'd tell him we expect him to honor his contract for next year and then depending on how well he performs we will re-evaluate the situation after the season to decide wheteher or not we will bring him back for 2012 and beyond. Tell him there will be no extension considered until after the 2011 season.

If he isn't happy with this he can resign and forfeit his salary but then he still cannot take another job in MLB until the 2011 season is over.

I don't. That would make the White Sox look like the bad guys, something Ozzie would hold over their heads for as long as he could. I like the way they're going about it right now. Let Ozzie be the one to show his true colors and allow him to be the bad guy in the media.
