NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 07:50 AM) PA by month for Mark Kotsay: March/April: 41 (Jones was on fire) May: 79 (Kotsay actually had a hot streak and earned some of this) June: 68 July: 65 August: 69 Sept: 28 Games played: 10 19 16 16 16 7 I sure don't see his playing time falling off the map until ManRoid was acquired. Started in late August, just before ManRam was acquired. As you show there, with September being a down month.
justBLAZE
Not trying to say I told you so, but some of the 15 page threads with some posters saying how Ozzie WILL be gone come 2011 were pure comedy gold. It played out exactly how I thought it would, he is under contract and he is back, if Kenny really wants him here for good they will probably work out an extension next season. I am tired of Ozzie's act as much as the next guy, but he still is the only manager that Sox won World Series with in my lifetime, I think this team has a great chance next year and will be better than this years team, pending an offseason catastrophe of course. Can't say it's gonna be hard for me to root for the White Sox next year because Ozzie is the manager, GMAFB.

If the team is willing to bring back some of the key FA pieces, and make an investment (in trade and/or money) in RF/DH, maybe add a bit to the bullpen... then I agree, this team has a strong shot at being better this year. If on the other hand, they need to stay put or bring down salary, then it will take some very impressive manuevering by KW to make this team better. Milkman delivers
There's a lot of offseason to get through, so I'll reserve my final decision until much later, but I'm seriously considering not attending or watching any games next season. soxrwhite
Kinda burnt out on the way things are so hoping for a change, but have learned to be careful what you wish for. Another string I know, but I'm really tired of Hawk Harrelson. I wish we would finally get a change there.

Real
Liriano, Duensing, Pavano, Slowey, Baker will be the best staff in the AL Central next year, and Don Cooper will still have his smugness and guys who can't throw strikes or get past the 6th inning. Balta1701
QUOTE (Real @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Liriano, Duensing, Pavano, Slowey, Baker will be the best staff in the AL Central next year, and Don Cooper will still have his smugness and guys who can't throw strikes or get past the 6th inning. SIGN ME UP. Well, first of all, Carl Pavano is a free agent, so that's strike 1.

Balta1701
QUOTE (Real @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) I know, but I think they give him a new contract Certainly possible. But OTOH...I wouldn't want my team being the one giving Pavano a multi year deal. He's definitely earned a significant raise from the $7 mil he's making this year. Real
He is the perfect pitcher for their rotation, because he can locate all of his pitches for strikes. Something OUR staff has problems with: Being able to locate your secondary pitches when you HAVE to
LVSoxFan
I think part of the problem this year has been when Ozzie's kids have gotten involved and have talked trash. +1. Cowley had it right in his column last week: KW needs to lighten up and Ozzie needs to tell Oney to STFU. His claim that he can't tell his adult son what to do is B.S. Name any job where your family publicly attacks your boss repeatedly and see how long that lasts. It adds nothing. Quite frankly I'm sick of them being in the press endlessly for non-baseball related things. That also adds nothing.

Listening to Ozzies interview on the Score after this was announced I get the feeling that it was addressed, because Ozzie specifically referenced the "off of the field stuff". He didn't get into detail, but that was the feeling that I got. Did anyone else hear it, and are they willing to give their thoughts? Balta1701
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) I so agree with this. Why the hell can't he tell his son to get a life and stay the f out of mine? I'd have looked past the Oney crap somewhat if it wasn't for the OzJr. fight with KW after the draft. That was the last family straw for me. I'm willing to put up with a lot of crap...but that's the end of my rope.
LVSoxFan
Well both really. The White Sox hired Ozzie, not Ozzie's family. He needs to understand that. So do they, and therefore they should STFU.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
It's not certain if Walker will return. From Whitesox.com : CHICAGO -- Even with Ozzie Guillen firmly entrenched as manager for the 2011 season, White Sox hitting coach Greg Walker has yet to decide if he will be returning. "I never make a decision before getting away from baseball," said Walker, who originally spoke about his pending decision a few weeks ago to the Sun-Times, before Guillen's return was made official. "Ozzie wants me to come back," Walker said. "Our coaching staff and manager are clicking as good as we ever have. Our manager has had a great year. Our coaching staff has fought the fight. We are a very close-knit group. I would miss that very much, but my family comes first." Walker's present hedging on returning for his eighth full season certainly doesn't mean the White Sox will be shopping for a new hitting coach. As Walker explained, he simply likes to get away at the end of the season, "go out in the woods in Georgia and chill," before making a decision. That process follows whether Walker has three years on a present deal or one year. He'll certainly run the final call by his family, but Walker pointed out that he also has a baseball family in Chicago to consider. "This is part of my family, too, so it enters into the equation," said Walker of his love for the White Sox. "I never make any decisions until the season is over. I love this job, I love the players and I love our staff. "Chicago -- it's my home. But I don't rush into it because I don't have to. I've done other things, so I know I'm capable of doing other things. I still have a great deal of passion for this job. Over the years, we've gotten good at what we do here, and we are getting better every year. So, that's where I'm at." southsider2k5
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) Reading the Thome article in today's Sun Times makes me wonder how both Kenny and Ozzie are back next year. The interesting thing if you read between the lines, is that Thome pretty much admits he wouldn't have been nearly as motivated if the Sox did bring him back.
