I've boycotted games unless I see the young guys play (and I don't mean just Morel) and I'm speaking for myself. It's embarrassing the "not ready at all" .289 hitting Viciedo hardly plays, yet he was the guy with the GW hit. Flowers still doesn't play to see what we got in him (or at least a better evaluation since A.J. is on the verge of walking) Infante, De Aza hardly, etc. I don't get up for a game (especially when the season is over) watching Pierre, A.J., Vizquel, Jones, Kotsay, etc.. hit.

I would say other posters have their own reasons.

This. With the Cowboys & the NBA season about a month away, I've got better things to get worked up about.

This. I'll tune in a bit now, but when Dayan isn't ready, then I can't anticipate him having GW hits.

I can only watch these Red Sox games because of my college sitiuation. Frankly, i'm not overly enthusiastic about watching meanigless wins ruin our draft position while giving Ozzie something to harp about going into his (god willing) lame-duck year.

Ruin our draft position? Come on, that's ridiculous. Unless we are somehow able to get into the Top 15 draft group, then the difference between say, 16 and 17, or 18, is nothing at all. Better to throw the youngsters out there and have them work their butts off as an audition for 2011, and hope they win a few.

Is getting into the Top 15 even possible? Was it even realistically possible before the little 5 of 6 streak we are on?

Well, we currently have 84 wins. Prior to the last 5 wins, that means we had 79 wins. If we'd lost out from that point we'd have finished 79-83, under .500. There's every reason to believe that under .500 should be in the top 15 picks.

Realistically though...finishing under .500 would have required going something like 2-17 in our last 19 games, starting with the beginning of that 8 game losing skid.

Yeah, so, not really realistic.

True, although about two weeks ago losing out didn't seem altogether impossible. I'm just frustrated with the whole organization at this point.

Everyone is. The DH debacle is reason number one for me, followed closely by Ozzie's bizarre antics. And those are 80% and 100% on Ozzie, respectively. So I guess really, I'm frustrated with Ozzie. Most else I am fine with.

I have enjoyed simply watching the White Sox stressfree for the last week as they close out the summer and baseball season. Last night was a great game.

I understand losing to get a higher pick but I only back that theory if you are in a lottery opportuntiy or in the top 5 to 7 picks. Losing games to go from 17 to 15 is a losers mentality.

Also I wonder if Guillen hits Dayan for Kotsay in that same situation in a meaningful game.

It was a great ending.

I agree completely. We've got a chance, with two more games against the Red Sox, to finish as the 5th best team in the AL. Better to try to win out than give up.

Pick #15 is protected, pick #17 is not. It actually is very important.

I hadn't thought about that. I know it doesn't mean anything in the long run but it is encouraging...and frustrating considering how things started.

Only if you think the team will sign a Type A free agent.

If Konerko and AJ are Type A, offered arbitration and leave then the Sox get extra picks anyway.

Konerko would probably leave, but that doesn't guarantee that the Sox get an equally high pick in return.

And LOL :bang at AJ leaving after being offered arbitration. First off, that means at the least he could be offered only a 20% cut from the Sox. Meaning, at the least he would cost the Sox $4.8 million. The Sox would, or rather, SHOULD NOT offer him arbitration. He will most likely not find more money total in any deal this offseason as he would in the one year of arbitration that we offer him. Tack on top of that that a team would have to give up a first or second round pick for him and suddenly AJ's value is non existant on the market.

People, and I'm just using you as an example because you are the latest to do so, need to learn how the FA market along with arbitration works before commenting on it. I have seen way to many comments like "Type B status gives a team 2 picks back so of course you offer," and it's just frustrating to have to explain it to every single person.
