Rex Kickass
We'll miss you Nancy. Are they going to get a new organist? Or is this the end of live music at the Cell?

Swingandalongonetoleft
I'm bummed to see Nancy go. After I dropped my split season package I would try to attend games during the day if I could just because her playing added a lot to the experience for me. I'm glad they're finding a replacement, but those are some big shoes to fill. Great that they're keeping an organist though.
NorthSideSox72
I love that at the end of the game yesterday, the crowd was chanting "Nan-Cee!". She will be missed, she was fantastic. QUOTE (3E8 @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) Boyer is currently working on hiring a new organist Really? That's most excellent, because I thought they'd just drop the organ thing. Balta1701
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 08:13 AM) I love that at the end of the game yesterday, the crowd was chanting "Nan-Cee!". She will be missed, she was fantastic. Really? That's most excellent, because I thought they'd just drop the organ thing. I loved that they turned around and gave her a standing O while the game was on...so the camera showed everyone behind home plate facing the press box. Yeah...I may have joined in the standing O. I hope that's correct and Boyer does sign a new organist. Most of the other stadia have gone to prerecorded music, and I think it reduces the experience. klaus kinski
The one constant through all the years has been Nancy. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But Nancy has marked the time. She will be missed.

Harry Chappas
There really is something cool about it. Now we get the prerecorded stylings which I am not a fan of.
LVSoxFan
I was lucky enough to be sitting not far from her booth for the appreciation day a couple of weeks ago, and then to be there for her last game. She will be missed. Hell she is PART of that park as far as I'm concerned.

I hope retirement treats you well, because I will miss you! I remember my dad taking me past her little booth when I was a kid -- man I feel old. Dick Allen
I read a long time ago, the Sox switched to canned music, not because it was more popular with fans, but because their players wanted it. It makes sense given Ozzie's comments about Nancy a couple of weeks ago and how she was used the games she did work. Only the top half of the inning. I will miss her, but I've missed her for years during night games. The canned music is the same in every park. I wonder why that doesn't bother Ozzie. soxrwhite
For those of old enough to remember when she was the only sound at old Comiskey, I say farewell not only to her but the era she excelled in.
LVSoxFan
Did anybody notice that after "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" Sunday she just went off, completely showing off her chops on the next tune that she played? I was like DAMN: that woman has some serious skills!
The Ginger Kid
every major league ballpark sings "take me out to the ballgame" in the 7th inning stretch, and every team yells their name instead of "home team." What few realize is that the tradition began with the White Sox and Nancy.
dmbjeff
isnt this the 2nd or 3rd reitrement for her? i swear she has retired in the past and kept coming back. who does she think she is if that is the case, MJ?

Y2HH
Enjoy retirement! And please, for the love of everything in baseball, do NOT discontinue the organ...I know they say they're hiring someone new, but I hope they go through with it.
