Once she had the offer from Company A, she called Company B and told them that she has an offer from Company A and said that she had to let Company A know by Monday. She also told Company B that she completely understands if they are not ready to make a decision yet, but she just wanted them to be aware of the situation. She wasn't pushy about anything, but she was up front and honest with them, told them she would still love to pursue an opportunity with them if they were willing, etc. Monday came and she had to let Company A know something, and really, she wasn't going to turn down Company A if she didn't know one way or the other from Company B. Well Company B called her and offered her a job. She never told Company A that she was interviewing with another company, but had no problem telling Company B the situation. I think she played it about as well as she could. Granted it worked out well, but going in, the actions seemed to make the most sense and didn't hurt anyone's feelings or come off in bad way to either company. I think the only thing I can realistically do, if I get an offer tomorrow, is call the other company and tell them I got a job offer and let them decide from there what they want to do. If I only have 24 hours to decide though, there probably won't be a lot they can do. I am sure they would want me to come in and interview in person before making any kind of offer and unless they cram me in last minute for the next morning, I will be out of luck with that one. I don't know if they have other candidates they are interviewing or not, and the reason I say that is that I used to work for the same company as a few people already working there (it's the same industry as I've been in the past 12+ years). So really they already know me, for the most part. They have made it seem like all I need to do is go in there and talk to them. I don't know; I could be wrong but that is the vibe I am getting. One trick you could always try is, if they ask you to make a decision in 24 hours...turn it around and ask for a 5% salary bump or something like that and say you'll agree right then if they do that for you. Pick out 2 or 3 experiences at your current work that you could explain in great detail and explain how you added value in those situations. Be confident. They like what they saw on your resume.
