Pretty similar, my wife was an editor and now teaches English. I can write something that's grammatically correct and coherent, but she's much better with flow and phrasing.

Can you have her take over your Soxtalk posting as well?

;)

Ill probably stick with litigation, but I dont know. Ive never really looked around or even explored options. I just always had a job or school, so I always just went with the flow.

I could probably stay here forever, but if I dont look around now, I probably never will.

Forgot to respond to this last week -

I'm in the same boat. I enjoy some aspects of litigation, but not all of it. My law school curriculum was geared towards becoming an in-house counsel for a big company. But that didn't work out and litigation was the only job I could get. I'm worried that at this point, 4 years in, i'm stuck unless I head into solo practice.

Just got back from an interview consisting of 3 fact patterns broken down into 10 hypos. I had 15 mins to review and then discuss. All dealing with ethics, evidence and criminal law. No other questions were asked. Can't have gone well for me. Lot of wasted preparation.

My wife could have typed this word for word.

Those interviews suck and just be glad you didn't get a job there. That's a pointless interview tactic.

I had one once with a personal injury volume shop firm. I met with a couple of the associates and partners in a conference room for like 45 minutes. One of the best interviews i'd had up to that point. I had the experience they were looking for, a couple of young associates in the office in a similar position to me, good convos and all that. Then the owner of the firm walks in. A total asshole. He says something like "I have only one question. I hand you a potential file (with X fact pattern), what do you do?" I'm taken aback a little, but I lawyer my way through an answer - investigate the case, decide whether it's worth filing, take deps, evidence deps blah blah. Basically described to him the entire case if planned out. He just listens to me ramble on and then at the end says "ok, i'm sorry this won't work. you forgot the key question - is there insurance? thanks for stopping by."

At the time I was really pissed off and upset, but now i'm happy I didn't get that job.

I worked for a guy who bragged about using similar interview tactics. He was a piece of crap.

If it's a top firm/place of business I don't mind them trying to catch you off guard and whatnot and it is an interview so every little thing counts, but yeah you'd hope they could at least be respectful.

It was most certainly not a top firm.

Got a new job and will be on salary and receive benefits after a 60 day probationary period. Got phone screened two weeks ago, interviewed a week ago and heard yesterday. Now I just have to inform my employer I'll be leaving. Either they'll keep me on until next Friday or fire me on the spot.

Wait until the the last minute if they treat employees like that.

Congrats fellas... I just got my "20 hour" security certificate today. I quoted 20 hours because it actually took me all of 2 minutes to get. I went in filled out the certificate, asked him whats next and he shrugged his shoulders and said thats it.

I was expecting a long day(s) but I certainly wont complain....Sadly he didn't have any positions open for me right then and there.

Hopefully you get some good news soon!

Went suit shopping yesterday. Bought two at Men's Wearhouse since they have a sale (they always have a "sale") but that left a dent in the credit card. I love the suits though.

It's awesome. The food and beer scene here is surreal. I miss the fresh seafood from the east coast, but that's about it.
