Like somebody said, I'd look and see if we can simply improve our team via free agency, if not make one blockbuster.

Trade Mark Buehrle, Juan Pierre and either Teahen/Linebrink to the Cardinals or Yankees.

We have to find a way to dump Pierre and Teahen/Linebrink and packaging them with Mark may be the only way to dump those buzzkill players. Juan would be OK I guess only if Oz bats him ninth.

I love Mark and wouldn't mind keeping him, but we can probably afford to trade a starter.

If not Mark, then Jackson.

Why would the Yankees want Juan Pierre? They already have a better and cheaper version of him, and they may well replace him this year with Carl Crawford.

My point was whether these teams want our buzzkill or not, demand they take them in the blockbuster involving Mark.

I could actually kind of see why the Yankees would be a fit for MB56, but I bet the Yankees are one of the trade-restricted teams on his list, and the Yankees are going to be signing Cliff Lee for $25 million/year this offseason anyway so I doubt Mark will genuinely excite them.

The Cardinals remain highly unlikely to take on Mark's salary. Asking them to take on Teahen or Pierre or Linebrink's salary with that...they're not losing Pujols in Free Agency because they traded for Mark Teahen.

You want to get another team to take on one of those contracts? Stick them with Danks or Floyd and you might be able to move 1 of them.

How abouts......

John Danks to Yankees for Brett Gardner + Gary Sanchez/JR Murphy. (Pending the Yankees sign Crawford)

Yankees get a lefty SP in Danks, White Sox get a speedy, LH OF who gets on-base a ton, and a catching prospect from the Yanks.

Yankees adding Crawford would make Gardner their 4th OF, and the Yankees have 4 catching prospects in their top10 prospects. Sanchez is 18 yrs old, Murphy is 19.

Make a team with money take some of our buzzkill with a name player like Mark. Trading for Buehrle in the offseason would be a major headline grabber for the Cardinals/Yankees/Mets/Bosox.

If they take all of Marks contract, no one is about to give us anything of value for him.

The Yankees already have a lefty SP, a really good one, and if Andy Pettite doesn't retire they'll have two of them. I'm sure they'd love to get an arm like Danks, but i don't think it's likely at the moment.

What does that matter? The Sox currently have 2, and could potentially have 3 if Sale is in the rotation. I highly doubt a team often thinks "Nah, he is a pretty good lefty starter, but we already got one, we don't want another". That doesn't seem to make much sense. And besides, CC and Danks are 2 completely different lefty pitchers.

Plus...even though the Yankees already have Captain Cheeseburger in their rotation, they're going to offer another Lefty 6/$150 this offseason.

I do not believe that is true. What is your source?

It was announced when he signed the deal, since he couldn't get a full no-trade clause.

And it's only from memory, so sorry.

Edit: The only other thing I can think of is maybe a player option for that much kicks in.

Actually, I believe he is right. And no team is going to tackle $32M+ in one trade, not even the Yankees.

No, if he is traded, the contract increases by $1M per year and a 1 year option is automatically picked up for 2012. This is according to Kalapse's payroll resource.

Oh, I had no idea what the numbers were, I thought you just meant that the fact that his contract increases was false. Cots confirms what Kalapse has.....

"A trade triggers an escalator paying $1M raise to $15M annually, plus a guaranteed fifth year paying $15M for 2012."
