southsider2k5
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) More Jeter/SS analysis. This time from Baseball Reference. The amazing thing is that only 5 of the 28 had an OPS+ of 100.
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 07:30 AM) Was the right side of the Yankee infield really THAT good on defense? Having a Gold Glover at SS makes the 2B & 1B look that much better.
bschmaranz
My god, I thought this would finally be the year Jeter doesn't get the award. What a friggin' joke.
Controlled Chaos
Yankees' Jeter plays bad defense, wins undeserved Gold Glove That would make the "real" Gold Glove winner at short Alexei Ramirez(notes) of the Chicago White Sox, or Elvis Andrus(notes) of the Texas Rangers, or Cliff Pennington(notes) of the Oakland Athletics, or Jack Wilson(notes) of the Seattle Mariners. Jeter doesn't even appear on their voting tally.

Jordan4life_2007
lol@neither Ryan Zimmerman or Jay Bruce winning a GG. Was surprised to see Cargo get one. His D was solid to me but hardly spectacular. Andres Torres was much more deserving. Edited November 10, 2010 by Jordan4life
chw42
Torres should have gotten one. Bruce is a right fielder and they usually go with 3 center fielders or guys fitted to play CF for the awards. How Chase Utley doesn't win gold gloves is beyond me. Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) Torres should have gotten one. Bruce is a right fielder and they usually go with 3 center fielders or guys fitted to play CF for the awards. How Chase Utley doesn't win gold gloves is beyond me. Bruce is a stud. Every metric out there casts him in a ultra-positive light defensively. Not to mention the eye test. I watch quite a few Reds games between when they play the Cubs and the Extra Inning package. Bruce was not that far off from prime Larry Walker. As for Utley? Yeah. He obviously slept with multiple coaches/managers wives.
lostfan
Alexei had 768 fielding chances... Jeter had 553. That's a difference of more than 200. Seriously it's no wonder Jeter only had 6 errors... at least he fields the balls that are hit right to him cleanly.

You don't get an error on a ball you can't even play, because they have a word for that kind of event. It's called a "single."

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Buehrle is the only pitcher to ever win multple GG's and have multiple no hitters.
