Probably just fluff, but in the off-chance it's not, I'm happy either way.

It's definitely fluff. Guys like Peavy and Beckham are going to have to prove it this year. I don't care what Coop, Ozzie say or about how good certain guys look in Camp Cora.

you mean the gordon beckham who hit .326 the 2nd half has to prove himself??? My memory fails me, when was he hurt??

The Gordon Beckham who had a sub .700 ops for the season has to prove himself.

He also had a .939 ops in the 2nd half

Which is absolutely fantastic. He needs to put a full season together though, the fact that he put up a sub .700 ops despite being at .939 for the 2nd half of the year just goes to show you how brutal he was in the first half of last season. There's no doubt that he still needs to prove himself.

It was actually an .877 OPS the second half. And what does that tell you that he could have a pretty good second half of that magnitude yet end up with a sub .700 OPS overall? That means he was comically bad for over three months [304 PA's the first half vs 194 PA's the second half]. There's no way to sugarcoat that fact. Beckham needs to 'prove' it this year. If you want to be a homer AKA Scott Merkin or Ranger or SS2K5 then that's your right. But don't act as if those who are concerned and want to see Beckham prove himself are talking out their ass.

Good LORD. MLB's top 10 right now - Centerfielders...No Rios. Both Ellsbury and Seizmore made the list over him. Curtis Granderson was #3! Matt Kemp #2... Jeez, MLB Nework doesn't hate the White Sox like ESPN, but that was ridiculous...

After the year Kemp just had, I don't know how you can place him in the top 10.

no ones answered my question yet, was his wrist injury in the first half when he was struggling or the 2nd half when he was the best infielder in the game??

Second half, and he was shut down early because of the injury.

hmmm well there goes my he was hurt in the first half and thats why he sucked....the kid was still a monster in the 2nd half despite an injured wrist, perhaps the 1st half was just a sophomore slump....

And to be honest, I think most of us believe that to be the case, however, he still needs to prove that to be the fact and produce for a full season.

I got that .939 number here http://bleacherreport.com/articles/445023-...ll-stars#page/6

Im not trying to make it out that you guys are talking out of your ass with your concerns, im just saying im not concerned....im taking it as a sophmore slump, pitchers were adjusting to him and the him adjusted to the pitchers in the 2nd half and put up some great numbers

Along with Dunn, Beckham and Q are why I'm really excited about the offense this year. Beck's numbers are above and Q was bad in April and May (BTW guys, your Q sponsored page at BR is going to expire soon!!). Hopefully with solid starts from those two the Sox can get off on a good roll. Also, with the addition of Dunn I really hope Q goes back to seeing a lot of pitches, a big key to a good offense is getting to the underbelly of the pen, too many times the Sox let teams go from starter to main set up to closer, would like to see more 6th inning guys in there!

Oz's lineup: Pierre, beckham, Dunn, PK, rios, AJ, Quentin, Ramirez, morel/teahen - Doug Padilla

Thought for sure Alexei would bat 2nd to not put to much pressure on Becks. Gotta admit though besides the /Teahen, I have no complaints there.
