They just mentioned on the score the Sox are looking at Tim Byrdak.

In his career against LHP - 202/.296/.380/.677, and it's been good each of the last 4 years. For the right price, that's a solid pickup.

Getting the feeling that it's going to be a long winter for Sox fans - think "The Kids Can Play II.''

Let's bump that... you're an idiot, Joe Cowley.

Adam Dunn is just a big kid.

Would picking up this fellow mean Sale would probably be hitting the rotation?

That was within what, 24 hours of this signing? Awesome Joe. Especially since it has come out that this deal has been done for 24 hours. Great sources there Joe Mariotti.

Why does no one think that signing Rauch for the bullpen is a good idea?

He didn't exactly leave on the best of terms.

He walked out on the team after a really bad performance (wasn't it the Cameron 4 homer game?) and pretty much burned any bridges he had in Chicago.

Jon Rauch doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as those two. Big difference in the careers and length of time on the south side.

True. But both of those guys weren't top tier free agent relievers either.

Sure, they were Hall of Famers. And neither of them came back to the organization until after they had retired.

KW and Oz can be harsh. There are a lot of guys who have left the Sox on bad terms.

Yesterday on ESPN radio Buster Olney said he expects the Sox to go after Heath Bell for the bullpen. Obviously just his opinion, but he said if the Padres re-sign Hoffman, Bell would be expendable. I thought I heard that Hoffman may retire though.

Hmmm

Two things, now both Putz and Konerko said one of the things that will matter to them this offseason is playing for a competitor, with the two moves made yesterday Kenny has guaranteed just that. Supposedly there is a $5m offer out for Putz.

If Konerko comes back, we have a huge trading chip in Dayan Viciedo, can he get us Bell?
