mr_genius
http://charlotte.cbslocal.com/2013/11/08/r...care-exchanges/ Blue Cross Blue Shield show that only 1,000 people had filled out applications as of October 15th. In fact, only one person was able to successfully use Healthcare.gov to enroll in the new exchange. But even that single person has not paid, which means the enrollment is not complete. The emails suggest the “payment re-direct option” on government servers isn’t working. Blue Cross Blue Shield found the entire system is so filled with glitches that the company decided not to upload data because it was afraid false information might enter its computer system. And the emails reveal a scammer was using the insurer’s name to try to obtain personal information. A person was making phone calls claiming to be with the “National Health Care Registry,” and falsely claim it was taking over healthcare reform contracts from the Blue Cross. So one person signed up, didn't pay, and had his information given to con artists . Well done Mr.President, well done. I can't even think of a more hilarious failure. Watching the Obozo circus is always good for a bunch of laughs.

Texsox
I find it interesting how much people believe the President should be personally involved in. What level of involvement should the President have had in designing and writing the code for the website? Did he personally look over the code and approve it? The way I look at it is this, he put his name on it, his circle created it, the buck stops with him. I certainly dont think he needs to know what the code is or anything like that, but the roll out was incredibly bad and full of glitches. This is peoples lives and health, it shouldnt have been this bad in todays age of technology.

When you (1) are the public face of the bill and the debate leading up to its passage, (2) make promises/assurances about the bill that you know aren't true, (3) oversaw its implementation and (4) hired/appointed those in charge of that implementation, you deserve everything coming your way. Jenksismyhero
A positive for the website: at least it didn't screw up THAT many people! http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/20...ed-in-obamacare A new Gallup poll brings more terrible news for President Obama and his signature health plan, showing that only 22% of uninsured Americans intend to buy insurance through the ObamaCare exchanges. One of the major selling points for using ObamaCare to disrupt our health care system (that polls showed up to 80% of Americans were satisfied with) was to insure the uninsured. But according to this poll, only a very small minority of that small minority is even interested in obtaining insurance. Even more troubling is the realization that a month ago, that number was double; a full 44% of the uninsured said they would purchase insurance though the exchanges. Do you regret your post or stand by it? He can't be given a free pass for ANY of this. He's just looking like a buffoon and/or a liar. I think it's obvious he is a colossal failure. But we voted him in so we get what we deserve in the dumbing down of America. One of our most popular presidents in terms of being a lock whenever he runs for something is such a disaster. This health care glitch may be one of the biggest embarassments/hassles to the American people in history. Jake
It will be just like Romneycare, as I've posted about earlier. People will start getting notices that they will be fined if they don't sign up soon, and then the vast majority of signups will happen. Also, that "uninsured Americans" demographic includes people that are not eligible to buy through the exchange, such as those eligible for the Medicaid expansion. Can wipe out life savings in an instant. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) Go see "12 Years A Slave." I said "one of" the biggest embarrassments/fiascos ever. Again, if you are the one affected by this, you have a right to be outraged. The American dream is not supposed to include the President screwing you over where now you get sick and have nothing! It takes, what, a week in the hospital to wipe out a bank account. The fact I actually voted for Obama shows you what a wreck of a country we have. A lifelong Republican who couldn't stand the thought of the other candidate. If I had it to do over, as much as I detested the sight of Romney and hearing him speak about issues, I'd reverse my vote. What Obama has done here saying people could keep coverage and lying about that is despicable. Edited November 8, 2013 by greg775

Can wipe out life savings in an instant. You want to talk to me about health care costs wiping out a life savings in an instant? Try having a spouse who is sick, actually needs medical coverage, and is uninsured. Come back to me when you've paid $1000 to go to an urgent care center who do a couple tests and give her antibiotics that are useless because you can't actually get a regular doctor to see you. Try putting together an application for individual coverage and being flatly denied because of that pre-existing condition or getting a quote that is more than you make in 2 years. How would you like to have a family member of yours in constant pain, basically unable to do anything for years, because they lack health insurance? Get back to me when you've gone through that agony and I might have a tiny bit of sympathy. You want to talk about a website being embarrassing? We should be embarrassed that people go through this crap in a civilized country every single day, but we're not because they're not important enough. The whole use of the word "canceled" has been very questionable. My policy was "canceled" but I was offered a similar one for slightly more money, or a cheaper one with some less benefits. Either way, Blue Cross is still keeping me around. The word "canceled" makes it seem like those people are booted for good.
NorthSideSox72
Plenty of blame to go around, and a lot of it rests with Obama. He is the chief executive, and he is ultimately responsible. The American people shouldn't even have to know who was 4 levels down on this effort. I will point out though, that if he fires Sebellius, and he has to go through a Senate confirmation... well, why bother? So if that is a confirmation-level position, then I wouldn't fire her either. I'd just tell her to go focus on something else and have her direct report on this report straight up. greg's hyperbole is pretty hilarious though. Which leads to one of the great political hilarities in all of this. The GOP will harp over and over again about how people's plans are being cancelled and how awful that is... but they can now GET coverage in that situation. Without ObamaCare, poorly designed as it is, if private insurers dropped people they may not be able to get coverage at all. Basically, the GOP is complaining about ObamaCare-induced cancellations in a way that calls for ObamaCare.

bmags
There was a WSJ Op-Ed where someone's policy was canceled, she had cancer, and was now stuck with a plan where some of her providers were out of network. It is sad, and that does suck. But, it turns out that provider had been struggling with their individual plans and were talking about cancelining them months before. Had this happened 5 years ago she would not have been able to get any coverage because she had pre-existing conditions.
