Kenny Hates Prospects
Man, they don't like YASNY in that piece. And looking back Uncle Bud's quote is great, "This isn't journalism's finest hour. Some people ought to be ashamed." f*** that guy.
knightni
There are a lot of information available that's not always for immediate general dissemination. If information ever becomes available for release, believe me, you'll hear it here on Soxtalk first.
Kenny Hates Prospects
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 12:15 AM) There are a lot of information available that's not always for immediate general dissemination. If information ever becomes available for release, believe me, you'll hear it here on Soxtalk first. I'd like to believe this, but I've seen too much info here that I would never have run with if I were in position to. Even if I believed my source. Also, a few hits here and there does not mean a free pass to cover all the misses. I know you guys all trust your sources and you're all good people and you all probably think I'm being a c*** about it, but people are going to question a lot of this stuff. Like the AJ thing that started all this, about how he's such a bad person. Still don't believe that. Steve's quoting of MB on AJ earlier in the thread may even for all we know be a bunch of lies put out there to make it seem like there's chemistry when there is none, but to me that would be a theory based on nothing. Most people are going to find it hard to trust a claim from an unidentified source when there's a public quote from a player sitting right there that appears to refute it. And BTW this is coming from someone who believes JFK was shot by members of a shadow government and also that UFOs are out there flying around and s***. Whether people admit it or not, is another matter. People don't really like being identified when they give out info. It's hard to stay employed if you're talking to the media and the boss finds out. So, if a source wants info to not be given out publicly, you won't hear about it here.
NorthSideSox72
No one is saying SoxTalk is somehow preternatural in identifying trades, or that there isn't a lot of bulls*** here. What we are saying - and its 100% true - is that there are multiple people on this board with inside sources within the Sox, and their inside info has been posted here and then verified multiple times in the past. And yes, at times, the board has gotten local or even national press attention for it.

harfman77
I think offering AJ arb would have been a good move, there is a 50/50 chance he declines because he wants more than one year of security, and if he accepts at least you have a known quantity behind the plate. AJ was not good in the first half but was one of the better hitting catchers in the AL in the second half. He plays good defense behind the plate, though he does not have a good arm to throw out runners. The question becomes now, who do you have to overpay to get a replacement? The Nationals have Jesus Flores back and he may be an option depending how he does this winter in Venezuela, other than that the trade market is pretty thin, and the fact that we are talking about Miguel Olivio means the FA market is even thinner. soxrwhite
I think Kenny is done with A.J. and so am I. He can't throw any body out and if he hasn't set the record for grounding to the second baseman he will. Konerko is a tough call. Did that thumb hold him down for several years or was last year just a career year? I don't envy Kenny on that one. If in doubt don't sign him. Bring Putz back. justBLAZE
From Rosenthal's new column, stuff on AJ, and possible new player in The Konerko sweepstakes. A report in Venezuela’s El Nacional mentioned the Red Sox, White Sox and Orioles as the losing bidders for free-agent catcher Victor Martinez, but the Rangers also were in “big,” a major-league source said. The Rangers continue to talk with Vladimir Guerrero, to whom they did not offer arbitration. According to the source, they also are showing interest in a surprising name -- free-agent first baseman Paul Konerko. Such a move would make sense, considering the Rangers were willing to sign Martinez in addition to Cliff Lee, as previously reported by FOXSports.com. Konerko, if he does not stay with the White Sox, would prefer to join a team near his home in Scottsdale, Az. The Rangers are not as close as the Diamondbacks, Dodgers and Angels, but the club trains in Arizona and the flight from Dallas to Phoenix is only about 2.5 hours. From Chicago to Phoenix, it’s about four. The White Sox offered salary arbitration to Konerko, but that should not be a deterrent to the Rangers, who were willing to sacrifice their first-round pick for Martinez. That selection, due to the team’s 90-win season, will be only No. 26 overall. The Rangers would not lose a pick if they re-signed Lee and gain one - likely a first rounder -- if he signs with another club. Another White Sox free agent, catcher A.J. Pierzynski, also could be a possibility for the Rangers, who are looking for catching help. The White Sox did not offer Pierzynski arbitration, so a team can sign him without forfeiting a pick. Harry Chappas
I followed to this board after the MLB Sox Board went insane. The Koch trade being the one that was known well before it happened on Sox message boards. Also the KW personal life stuff and his almost "resigning" . My sig used to be HSC's Biggest Fan because of all of the inside information that went on around here, sans the guy that had the knowledge of Frank Thomas contract that only he, Frank and JR knew. This board was built on inside information that was spot on that is no longer here. Can I please get on a PM thing as it looks cool when I e-mail people this stuff and it comes true. Also I may need a new screen name shortly.....I will cry a little bit when that happens. The Sox need AJ as there are no leaders on this team although it would be good to see how OZ handles it when he as complete control. Jerksticks
I guess I kind of understand the pride angle; ya'll are saying that it's a good thing to know about a trade before it happens? I guess I just don't get how that would be interesting if it hasn't actually happened. I understand the little pride issue of knowing things somebody else doesn't; that's common with people. Outside of childish pride, I see no reason for it to matter. What am I missing? For example, "SoandSoJohnny2156 says the White Sox are interested in Koch." So lemme get this straight: the whole benefit of this is that we get to discuss something early? Something that hasn't happened yet or might not happen? It never matters til it happens is my point, so it definitely seems like a pride issue. Willing to be corrected.

Texsox
I'll wait and see who we have starting. But I'm guessing we're going to take a step down at this position, but the club will make more money. 04:07 PM:name=Kenny Hates Prospects)--> QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Yeah because overpaying by $1-2M on a one-year deal in order to put something legitimate behind the plate during the last season Mark Buehrle and Edwin Jackson have on their contracts is really atrocious. Jesus Christ.
